I have been crossing the North Sea and North Atlantic with ships 160-180 meters long(20 000-50 000 Dwt) in good and bad weather. If it was a real storm, the 20-35 meters tall waves would have gone over most of the deck when they hit the vessel.

It looks from the video that the vessel is sailing with the wind and sea with not much shipping seas on her deck, with this situation the vessel will be running with good speed.

How do waves even get like that? Sure, there's a storm, but how does the wind get water moving like that? It seems so unreal for wind to do that. I'm not questioning it, it's's just so weird. The waves bounce off each other and make enormous waves. It's more like being shaken, not wind blown. Crazy

Cool footage! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.

@@СергейланцоФ Draft of the vessel was approx. 10m, total depth of vessel's side is approx. 18m, so as you can see some of the waves reach the main deck at stbd bow, so one can assume that the waves are approx. 7m and more in height. Sustainable winds of approx. 45knots(23.15m/s) were observed on anemometer. Extract from Beaufort scale:"High waves (23-32 ft), sea begins to roll, dense streaks of foam, spray may reduce visibility"

Interesting video showing how the sea can sometimes be. I used to watch endless snips from people sailing the Atlantic, but I gave up in the end sick and tired of hearing them moan and whine about how they did not like what was happening to them because the sea was not dead flat and the wind was not blowing a steady sixteen knots from exactly the right direction to give them 6. knots over the ground in perfect comfort. It seemed to me that if you were at all concerned about the sea state, then either you, the boat or both were not fit to be out there in the first place and your time would be better spent sitting on the beach watching ice cubes float around your glass. And yes we have sailed the Atlantic Ocean and the Southern Ocean simply because we wanted to and we made sure both ourselves and the boat were fit for purpose. Hit Force Eights several times and loved every minute of it and will probably do it again shortly. The sea is what it is on the day and you had better be prepared well in advance to accept that or stay at home where it's nice and safe.
