@@surferdude8086 Yeah. It IS just a job. Until you're in the DRINK, and I don't mean Rum 'n Coke. The Sea will take all comers, at her will. Granted, not as risky as it is for the peeps who service 80,000 volt graphite cables on three-hundred foot towers. One slip, you are smoke and ash welded to the tower, or a RED spot on the ground. (Seen both) Or the peeps who wash windows on Skyscrapers. Same rule applies. Foul your cable and... Look out below! @200 fps, you will live a lifetime in five seconds. Or the the dudes and dudettes who change the light bulbs on radio towers (some +500 meters) Lose FOCUS when you transit a cross-member and WHOOPSIES... You are correct. It's a job, IF you got the PILLS (Ovaries...gonads in general terms) for it, know where you are each second, trust your equipment and YOURSELF. FEAR is an IRRATIONAL state of mind. Engage it, and you will die--or maybe just keep both feet on the ground. That's okay too. No judgement here. I should mention ROCK CLIMBING. I've been there, done that. Not typically a Job, unless you run a guide service. Looks risky... and is. Moreso until you know what you are doing. In the final analysis? The landscape takes on a unique "character" 2K feet up a WALL. Like you can reach out and touch it. UNREAL. Go for it! But... FIRST RULE: check your "protection". SECOND RULE: No Fear. That’s why so many ships are in the ocean most of them never made it back then
@judd01122 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s pretty scary having to cross the Atlantic back then. 6 weeks on a small tight ship. Was reading the Benjamin Franklin biography and he went back and forth between America and France & Britain like 6-10 times. That’s a month and a 1/2 each way. And some of the crossings he described being in a continuous storm with heavy seas for 2-3 week straight now that’s uncomfortable. The captain has to be constantly on his toes if he takes one wave the wrong way it’s all over. The ship can only handle big waves head on. Now into them. If hit on side it could roll very easily. And that’s very stressful being on point at the wheel watching every single wave coming at you and then looking for the next one after. Draining. And sometimes goes on forever seemingly
