Finally the Tankhead book arrives in my hands! A recent book full of very imaginative vehicle designs with a nice dash of world building on top of that! Fantastic empires with big mechs duking out in all theaters of war!

Heyhey, Writer of the lore text here. Thank you for the review! Very glad to hear you enjoyed this look at the world Emerson and I have created. We are actively pitching a board game (with models) set in the Tankhead world. I make a living as a miniatures sculptor myself, so you know full on wargames were on my mind while working on this setting as well ;p

Awesome news! Want to share where we can find your models? I have my suspicions I know which ones they might be after doing a bit of sleuthing around, but by all means feel free to point us all in the right direction!

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature All over the place really. A lot of my stuff is at other companies with sculpting credit to TSP or Tim Popelier. My personal MMF page should open some time this year, but other stuff (like that darn book) keep demanding my attention.

Very cool book that I am going to have to try and find!! Reminds me a little of the "Rocketship Empires 1936" RPG system-less campaign book by Edward Kann, where you have sci-fi versions of the WW2 vehicles

Thank you so much for the feature! As @sordorel mentioned, we're working hard on expanding the Tankhead universe beyond the book. We can't wait to share more news in the future!

I saw this book pop up in one of my feeds recently, and it looked cool. Glad to see I was right! Also, love that you (eventually, lol!) made the Iron Kong/Zoid shout out. That's one of my favorite mecha of all time.

Some day I'm going to suck up the courage and build the Kotobuikya one. I've had a US release Iron Kong sitting in my classroom for years overlooking my desk, next to my Godzilla '85 I got when I was a kid.

We sooooo need actual model kits of these mechs.

This is among the coolest shit I have seen. Tell me theres models or miniatures associated with it? Please!

Nope. Just art from Emerson as far as I know.

One can only hope! There's a lot of potential in this book! At the very least hopefully it'll inspire other model makers to work in a similar manner! One can never have too many walking tanks!

If your looking for weird war/dieselpunk designs sort of like these I’d recommend you check out Marcher:Empires at War. Even their tank models have a real compacted metal slug vibe to them

The Golden Dragon Games one? They do have some cool designs. I'd seen the infantry mostly, but now that I've scoped out some of the armor I'm even more intrigued! Good call!

They would probably have to pay royalties to somebody to make a game with this art work
@ObscuritiesinMiniature7 күн бұрын
I could see the art getting licensed out, or even better, getting the artist responsible to draw up even more fun designs!

It helps if the author of the lore is a profesional miniatures sculptor, which I happen to be. We are hoping to partner with a games/miniatures publisher who can support Tankhead as long running project, because we aren't done with this world yet!

4:00 The fact that this book was published by UDON who has worked with Capcom makes me think these designs would fit right at home in the Steel Battalion universe. Specifically, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor which shares much of the alternate timeline WW2/dieselpunk aesthetics with this book.

Now Steel Battalion is a game I haven't thought of in a good hot minute. I hadn't even thought of that Capcom/ Udon connection either- don't give me hope! I'm honestly kind of shocked now that you bring it up that nobody has tried to resurrect the game via Steam or something else that has that live service access.

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Pipe dream of mine - Steel Battalion remake/reboot on the PSVR2. The Kinect version was done dirty by the controller, but I believe VR is the way to go.

This is such a rip off of the games workshop tau art on the cover.
