Tanks That Should Be Added To War Thunder II

People sometimes ask me what vehicles should be added to War Thunder, so I decided to (again) list out some of the tanks that I think would fit in the game. I took some suggestions from the last video and combined them with some of my own ideas. I don't expect to see any of these in the next War Thunder update, but it'd be nice to see them in-game someday. In this video, I talk about the ELC EVEN 90, STC, Type 10, Char 2C, K1 (Type 88), and CATTB.

Maybe have two tank modes where one is so you can play Cold War or WW2. Then have a bleed over so you can research Cold War with WW tanks, and the Cold War tanks will have a few nerfs like ammo nerfs and the WW tanks can get some extra sl

To be honest, separating the late cold war/modern vehicles into a separate game from the interwar-postwar vehicles wouldn't be such a bad idea. It would allow them to optimize maps, mechanics, and balance independently for the two vastly different worlds that are those two time periods.

Except the TOG II wasn't an inter-war tank, it had been drawn up/designed in 1940 and had the majority of its prototype completed in 1941 but when it became readily apparent that WW2 was going to be nowhere near the same static trenches and no mans land of WW1 the project was terminated.

I have a few that I'd like to see in game: -Finnish BT-42 assault gun, based on Russian BT-7 chassis and British 114mm howitzer it used German licensed HEAT shells and HE shells. 18 were made, so it could be made into a German/Swedish Main tree TD -German StuG 40 G, Upgraded StuG III G with a coax MG and a new Gun mantlet. It and the standard StuG III G have an option for a top mounted MG-34 (Gunshield for it is already visible in-game) (+Theres also a Finnish option with a top mounted Russian DT/DP MG and Logs as add-on side armour) -Finnish Patria AMVs for Sweden. Armoured cars armed with a single or double barrel 120mm Granade launchers/mortars, or an 105mm cannon. 105 km/h top speed. Edit: I forgot Finnish ItPsv. 90 and ItPsv. Leopard SPAAs. They are the Marksman turret (from British Chieftain Marksman) mounted onto a T-55 or Leopard 2 chassis. Would be at a similar BR as Chieftain Marksman. Can be added to Swedish Main tree. (Theres also a option to add a Premium Finnish T-34 (1941) with an experimental Muzzle brake. 1 made in 1942.)

You do realize that the BT-42 HEAT round hardly ever even worked? 18 hits on a T-34 without even immobilizing it speak for themselves. Also the Finns did get the L-62 Anti II called ItPsv 41 in Finnish service.

@@builder396 problems arose with the HEAT shells fuses, which apparently did not arm themselves correctly after firing, this would not be a problem in warthunder as unreliable-ness is not modeled in warthunder

There was also a version of the Char 2c with 90mm of armor. Also the 75 on it is from the 1890s, I think it had a decent Heat round, but even that was probably not that impressive

What’s the M3 GMCs 75 like, because it’s just a licensed US-built gun of the same design as that on the 2C?

@@startrekker4596 It's the M1897A4, which is a modernized (as in, they changed the recoil mechanism and breech) Canon de 75 modele 1897, produced under license in the United States. I imagine it would be very similar to the 75mm of the Char 2C in terms of ballistics. It does have an AP Shot with around 100mm of pen IIRC, but APHE has "only" around 80mm. This would still be more than enough for the tank, and it's worth noting the 2c's raw size and crew composition means it would be incredibly durable. EDIT: As well, a 75mm HEAT shell would probably be enough to hull break quite a few vehicles at its BR.

The SAu 40's 75mm is based on the same 75 as the Char 2C's and the M3 GMC; the French APHE ammunition has 76mm of pen in-game. Still perfectly adequate at 2.0-ish. The gun isn't what holds the SAu back, so that gun on a turreted superheavy with similar armor and a dozen crew would be very formidable.

There is 1 more interwar tank that I've never seen talked about: the TG-1/T-22, a Soviet tank designed by the German Edward Grotte in the early 30s. It was classified as a mix between an assault gun and a medium tank.

If you think the french tanks are bad, it has a crew of 3 and 2 guns. One of them is the driver, leaving each gun with respectively one crewmember to operate it with no dedicated loader or commander at all. Have fun with your reload times.

ZTZ-99 and 99A are already planned. Suggestions for the CATTB, Object 292 (which seems to be a T-80B up-gunned to 152mm), Leclerc T4 (140mm), and Leopard 2-140 were all passed to the devs in April, as well, so there's a small chance we'll see all of them if they further decompress the top tier.

I would love to see a pan Western European tree with Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Portugal as they had a lot of unique designs such as the sk 105 and the panzer 61/68 tanks however I am afraid that they would just end up filling it up with American tanks to fill up Battle ratings

Portugal, built some tanks during ww2 based on Vicker 7Tons. they were prototypes never saw action. Portugal could be fitted whit Brazil. Portugal would make low tier and mid tier (6.3-8.3) And Brazil the rest up to 10.3 at least.

The AVRE would be of dubious utility. The spigot mortar's range and low muzzle velocity would mean it would struggle to engage targets, and it's a Churchill. If you want a British KV-2, there's a version with a 165mm howitzer instead of the spigot mortar that fires HESH shells.

@@boommeletop5443 ​ S.Korean here, and I can tell that my fellow Korean friends HATE it if it ever happens; one of them told me that if it happens he will be quitting the game. Any justification against Korean vehicles being in japan is meaningless because of Taiwan is in the Chinese tech tree as well as a lack of top tier vehicles in Japan. But I wouldn't mind Korea being in japan if Korea gets recognized properly; the Tech tree is named "Japan/Korea" or something that does not bring up farther arguments.

Taeseong Moon I feel like gajin should stop with separate tech trees. I think we should have an America tec tree that includes Israel South Korea and Taiwan , an axis tech tree Germany Italy Hungary and austria maybe japan but then switch it to America post war , a ussr/Warsaw pact/ eastern block tech tree which is russia and all the iron curtain and commie block nations. A commonwealth tec tree which is Britain South Africa India canada. A Chinese/ eastern commie tec tree that has Vietnam North Korea and China, but this tec tree could also be put in the Russian tec tree if there is not enough ww2 veichles. And a northern lights tec tree for Denmark Sweden Finland Norway and Estonia. I think this is the best way forward for warthunder because gajin does not have to create new tec trees they can just add on to already existing ones, this also will severely cut down on copy paste because there won’t be separate tec trees like China Israel japan and Italy that need filler veichles.

Just an fyi, there are three different variants of the Char 2C that can be added, the first being the one mentioned in the video. The second is the “command tank” upgrade package for Lorraine (each of the tanks had a name), which increased the frontal armor to 90 mm and the side armor to 65 mm, and increased its weight to 75 tons, a world record for a fully operational tank that stands to this day. The other option is the Char 2C bis, a one-off conversion of another Char 2C, Champagne, which replaced the main turret and gun with a new cast steel turret mounting a 155 mm howitzer, though the tank was converted back to standard configuration in 1934.

Nice ideas! But what i would love to see is more vehicle customizability. There was a request to make your own serial number for a tank or something, or make you own squadron badge and put it on your vehicle. More camos are also needed. I really want to see the South Korean T-80U camouflage. Those machines are beautiful, especially with that paint!

I'd like to see some vehicles that were represented in Battlefield 4 added like the AH-6, and the Q-5 Fantan, as well as both the IFV and AA variants of the LAV, and the Type 09 and it's variants. The rest of the vehicles, bar maybe the Stealth Jets, would also be nice.

I would like to make a suggestion for Spanish tanks, with a bit of history and a tech tree, BR. Tank 1: Lince. The Lince (Lynx in English) was a Spanish and German joint developed tank that wanted to improve on the early Leo 2 and make it more adapted to Spanish terrain. It was basically a lighter and faster Leo 2 with less ammunition. Tech tree: German as a tier VI premium or as tech tree vehicle with the 2a4. BR: 10.3/10.0 Tank 2: AMX 30E. The AMX 30E was a Spanish licence produced version of the AMX-30. It had some key differences with it that would probably include a stabilizer (not sure about this part). Tech tree: France as a Tier V premium or as an event vehicle. BR: 7.7/8.0 If you read till here, thank you and sorry for the rant.

I read that the base K1 turret cheek protection reaches up to around 450 mm RHAe against APFSDS projectiles! In that sense it would actually be slightly better than base M1 and more or less equivalent to the base M1A1 plus ballistic windows due to the turret hump design. The Leclerc followed a similar design philosophy. During the initial Leclerc conceptual design phase in the late 1970s, having a hump turret design saved up to 5 metric tons of mass over the full turret design concept. These 5 tons could then be incorporated into having heavier (better) protection or just saved to grant greater mobility. The Leclerc seem to have to gone the middle/balanced route. The K1 and later K1A1 and K2 might have also gone down this balanced approach route.

The ELC project actually spawned several prototypes, including a Ontos-like 6x105mm recoilless variant, a twin 30mm variant, as well as an SS.11 carrier. This would make a nice addition to the French light tank line. Speaking of which, there are several AML-90 variant that could be added. There's the AML-90 Lynx upgrade which features a laser rangefinder and thermals, a twin 20mm AA variant used by Venezuela, as well as a locally upgraded Algerian variant which can fire Konkurs ATGMs. There's a also a whole bunch of South African license-built AMLs, known as Eland, which would make an easy premium for the British tech tree.

Eh, meta in WoT is completely different to that of Warthunder, so annoying tanks wont translate directly over. Like in WoT that tiny thing could probably get away with a couple hits, but in WT its gonna be a one-and-done 99% of the time.

only the latter Fiat 2000 would work, due to the 65mm haveing poor AP but decent HEAT and HESH shells (irl its HEAT had 100mm of pen to the 75/18's 120mm. but italian HEAT is nerfed in game to 100mm so it would probably get 90mm?) those shells only came after the fiat 2000s were upgraded to have a pair of 37mm in th hull (i believe they are the same 37mm as the M11/39 tho)

I'd love to see the Object 187, which was a Soviet sister program to the T-90 which, like the CATTB, mounted a number of highly experimental technologies to test what worked and what didn't. A lot's still classified, but it mounted a new 2A66 gun which, unusually for 125mm smoothbores, mounted a muzzle brake. This gun had a series of depleted uranium sheathed monobloc darts developed named 'Anker-1' and 'Anker-2', which were probably about on par with early 'Svinets' variants, as well as new HEAT-FS and ATGMs. The armor was a much more advanced composite array with uranium inserts, with a maximum LOS thickness of 950mm. This armor was compounded by a prototype version of the new 'Relikt' ERA known as 'Malakhit', a Shtora-1 APS, and smoke grenade launchers. It had a 1200hp diesel and a hydro transmission, giving excellent performance for a Soviet tank. It would serve as a great equivalent to the CATTB at 11.3, being a significant improvement over every Soviet tank in-game.

The addition of the ELC and its variants could certainly shore up the French ground tree with some new interesting bits, as the ELC EVEN had the aforementioned 90mm turret version, a version with two 30mm cannons, the ELC AMX with a lower profile turret, but that could only be rotated 360 degrees while the vehicle is stopped, plus prototypes of the ELC equipped with either rockets or ATGMs. All in all, I think there could be some fun to be had with that lineup.

From my time in R&D with the USAF. The Type 10 uses Nano-crystal steel, 4th gen. modular ceramic composite armor, and light-weight upper armor supplementary plates. Its mostly made up of ceramics to survive first contact in the sides, and heavier plating on the front. But, because of the ceramics, itll break easier. this is a let-off as the tank is supposed to be much lighter than the type 90. The vehicle only has a crew of 3, the vehicle is reported to have an auto-loader magazine mechanism.

Gabe Vietor isreal will never be a separate tec tree in the game it has to much controversy around it. If Israel is recognized as its own country warthunder will be banned in multiple country and restricted in a lot. Evidence of this is that gajin has an Israeli flag on the merkava but it is classified as an American tank.

While I do understand the copy paste issue, they do have their own vehicles no other country does. And if we don't get a Korean tree, I would understand why. BUT I do NOT want Korean vehicles in the USA tree. They have plenty of top ranked BR tanks, planes, and jets. Ironically I'd rather see them in the Japanese tree, regardless of the political issues around the Dokdo islands and the given past relations the countries have. Japan does need vehicles to fill in their ranks. Maybe, there can be a separate section in the tree called "South Korea" and it is separated from the Japanese SDF. I don't know, but regardless I would love a Korean tree. tl;dr I would love a Korean tree being Korean. I do not want Korean vehicles in the USA tree (they have a lot of top ranked stuff), maybe combine Japan and Korea, but separate Korea in it's own section.

For France, you could also add the Panhard wheeled vehicles, especially the Panhard FL/10 and FL/11. Those would be a lot of fun to play around 6.7-7.0. To keep going with the AMX 13s, there's also the AMX 13 DCA 30, which would fit neatly in the gap between the AMX 13 DCA 40 and the AMX 30 DCA. There's also the AMX 13/105 equipped with a 105mm gun and thermals, which would give France a nice higher tier light tank

There's a lot of Chinese indigineous stuff that can be added: ZBD-05/ZTD-05: amphibious assault vehicles armed with 30mm autocannon+Missiles and 105mm cannon respectively. Top speed on road is 65kph but a crazy 45kph on water. Probably 8.0 and 9.0. ZBL-08/ZTL-11: wheeled vehicles, same armament as mentioned above, IFV style for the ZBL and 105mm for the ZTL. Same BR as the above vehicles too. Type 95 AAA: quad 25mm with optional 4 missiles, probably 8.0 without missiles and 10.0 with. PTZ-89: basically a Object 120 (except this one actually went in to service), 120mm smoothbore, possibly 7.7 or 8.0

I would really like to see Trucks with M40 or spg 9 or the Swedish Pvpj 1110, this would be a fun unit that most every nation would have access to and would be a great backup TD am most high ranks seeing as there is so much ammo choice available.There are also neat tanks like the Swedish 140mm STRV 2000 that competed with the Abrams and leopard for Sweden's modern tank, or the heavy tank for the 50s with the oscillating turret.

I can't believe no-one has suggested any of the Wiesel (Weasel) AWC Series yet. For those who don't know what it is- it is essentially a modernized version of a Tankette, designed to be Air-Portable. It has two different chassis versions: the Wiesel 1 is 3.5 by 1.8 by 1.8 meters at 2.75 tons, with a 64 kW (86 hp) Audi 2.1-litre diesel engine giving a top speed of 70 km/h (45 mph). the Wiesel 2 is 4.8 by 2.1 by 1.8 meters at 4.8 tons, with a Volkswagen 1.9 L Straight-4 turbo-diesel at 109 kilowatts (146 hp), making 70 kilometers per hour. It has many different Versions, which i'd like to suggest seperately: The Wiesel 1 A1 TOW - A 9.3 Tank Destroyer (with Scouting). It carries a single TOW 2 launcher and an MG3 for the loader. It has a total of seven missiles, one in the tube, one on an exterior loading rack, and five in storage. It has 45 degrees of horizontal traverse, and 10 degrees of elevation. It is unstabilized and has no infrared capability, but comes with a night vision sight (AN/TAS 4). It has a crew of three, commander/gunner, loader, and driver. It's armor is rated for small arms up to and including 7.62 and Artillery Splinters. It's angular front can also sometimes deflect .50 cal. The Wiesel 1 A2 MK (Maschinenkanone) - A 9.7 Light Tank It comes equipped with a Rheinmetall MK 20 Rh 202, a 20 millimeter autocannon at 880 RPM in a mechanically driven RLS E6-II turret with 110 degrees of rotation and an elevation between -10 and +45 degrees. It's special in that it has a swappable, dual loading mechanism- it can quickly alternate between firing 60 rounds of AP in the left ammunition box, and 100 rounds of HE in the right ammunition box, without reloading the gun. The Ammunition it uses is DM51A2 HEI-T and DM43 APDS-T (maybe even DM111 HE-FRAG). It presumably can carry around four to six additional boxes with 100 HE-T or 60 AP each. Of particular note is the sighting and fire control system. The A2 variant has an upgraded PERI Z17 BM48 WBG (four-and eight times magnification, third gen night vision) sight and a AOZ 2000 fire control system with laser rangefinder, infrared mode, and an integrated firing computer. This makes it a credible threat to light armored vehicles and helicopters. It only has a Commander/Gunner and Driver, leading to ergonomics issues resulting in slow reloading. It's armor is identical to the Wiesel 1 TOW. The Wiesel 2 Leichtes Flugabwehr-System (leFlaSys) Ozelot or Ozelot AA for short. A BR 10.0 Anti-Air vehicle. It carriers four Stinger SAMs in protective casings, mounted around the sensor group, which is itself mounted on an unmanned turret. Interestingly, it can also fire the Russian Kolomna KBM Igla-1 (SA-16 'Gimlet'), as demanded by Germany for training purposes. It's Sensor Suite include a Thales Land & Joint Systems passive Air Defence Alert Device (ADAD), as well as probable classified radar equipment and sighting systems. As this vehicle is Data-Link Capable, it would receive Radar Lock Data and Enemy Locations from other nearby radar vehicles, so it could rely on stronger Air Defense Tanks for Data while remaining concealed and out of danger. This vehicle uses a Crew of two, a commander/gunner and driver. As this vehicle uses the upgraded Wiesel 2 Hull, it is protected against nearly all small arms, including .50cal machine guns. It's sloped front may even deflect cannon shots fired at oblique angles. The Wiesel 1 ATM/HOT '98 (AntiTankModular with HOT Missiles). A Tier 10.3 premium Tank Destroyer. This vehicle is a test-bed that has changed over time. I consider the version displayed in '98 for the opening day of the "Luftlandebrigade 26 "Saarland"" a worthwhile addition. This Wiesel 1 comes equipped with a similar turret arrangement as the Wiesel 2 AA "Ozelot", but in an Anti-Ground Configuration. At the center of the turret is a full electronics suite, with infrared-capable zoom camera and a Laser Rangefinder, which also assist in missile and target tracking. This Suite can be extended (ingame via the raise turret elevation mechanic) to reach up to two meters, allowing for safe surveillance and target acquisition. May favored variant comes with a HOT-3 Anti-tank Missile (Range 4000m, Pen 1000mm of RHAe with tandem warhead against ERA) mounted on the side of the turret and the Wiesel 1 MK's 20 mm Cannon in the center, this time equipped with only one box mounted opposite to the AGM on the turret, and no quick change option. It has no Machinegun. Amount of Reserve Ammo is speculative, but the vehicle could probably carry two additional missiles externally and two additional boxes of ammunition (see Wiesel 1 MK for capacity) internally. The Crew of this vehicle consists of two people. The Commander/Gunner, and the Driver/Loader. It's armor protection is identical to the Wiesel 1. There were many variants of this vehicle, but these are the ones i feel would fit War Thunder the best. I'd also be happy to discuss the viability of implementation within War Thunder.

I think the FV301 could be interesting as a British light tank at T5, it was supposed to be a post-war design for a lightweight, nimble light tank equipped with the 77mm HV 17pdr. Sadly I don't know much about the vehicle itself and can't find much online other than that it is in WoT Blitz apparently, but that doesn't tell much. The series is interesting though, it reminds me a bit of the CRV-T, in that it has a lot of variants built on the same chassis that fulfill similar roles, the FV304 as a self-propelled howitzer comes to mind.

You should take a look at some of the late cold war Soviet Prototypes like the Object 490A, Object 187 (which removed the driver port weakspot present on soviet mbts), and the object 477. The 490A and 477 would be a massive change of playstyles from the rest of the Soviet tree due to their heavy armour and guns as well as unique crew layouts.

Id like to see the m39 panzerwagen. It should be placed in the german tree as they captured and used it and the dutch simply dont have enough tanks for their own tree. Its a fun little shitshow of a vehicle that'd make for fun play with guns being place on both ends of the vehicle and in a turret on top. Would be cool to see as an event or maybe just to be added to the normal tree

It's a Plane, but still. The XB-19 was an experimental heavy bomber for the United States. Dimensionally, the XB-19 featured a length of 132 feet, 2 inches, a wingspan of 212 feet and a height of 42 feet, 9 inches. It could carry up to 18,700 pounds of bombs at around 265 mph with it's later engines installed. Standard, the bomber had 5 .50 cals, 6 .30 cals, and two 37mm autocannons. One 37mm was in a turret in the nose, and another was in a dorsal front turret; each had a coaxial .30 cal. Two .30cals sat either side of the Bombardier in the lower part of the nose, two more sat on either side of the stabilizer. Two .50 cals were stationed on either side of the central fuselage, one in a rear top turret, one in a lower mount behind the wings, and one in the tail.

Even though I've stopped playing War Thunder due to the bullshit grinding at 7.0 for the US the videos are still pretty good. And also, I feel like a Brazilian Tech Tree would be a lot better then a Korean one.
