You probably know this being the coffee nerd that you are but mostly to remind everyone that watches: You must let your coffee rest for a couple weeks after roasting. If you don't know why just look it up. Edit: Sorry, you don't HAVE to. It won't kill you of course but it will taste much better if you do. And upon reflection I think it's pretty likely that the beans he used were actually already rested and the beans he roasted in the video either were filmed a long time ago or weren't the ones he used to brew.

I recommend letting your roasted beans rest for at least 24 hours before tasting. Freshly roasted beans give off a lot of excess carbon dioxide, which will affect flavor poorly. Optimal brewing time is roughly two weeks after roasting date if stored properly. Oxygen is coffee’s enemy! Happy brewing ❤

I really enjoy your videos, I got into coffee about 6 months ago and it’s really cool to see all the ways to make it and cheap vs expensive tools.
@LotusAuer Жыл бұрын
Except it's rare if not unheard of for influences and content creators to show off "inexpensive" stuff. You never see a video on these kinds of channels showing which simple countertop drip brewer is the best bang for your buck from all the cheap stuff at Walmart or something. It's ALWAYS top of the end, brand new, espresso only content that honestly most people don't get into or can't afford to get into if they wanted. It's cool to see where the tech is, but it's underwhelming when they are discontinuing old versions when they're still super expensive, then coming out with only new, more expensive products, pricing people out basically for life. Closest I got to this was buying a setup from a second hand store, it still set me back almost $100 for everything, and a lot of the components had broken and didn't work at all. I ended up tossing the whole thing after a year and stuck with regular coffee pots since.
@ZanderVasquezMMA Жыл бұрын
@@LotusAuer I definitely understand what your saying and I believe it to be true. If you have a big influence on the internet why not try to show off some top of the line stuff and also try to make some profit off of it. I’ve been using a pour over that I bought off Amazon that’s cheap and inexpensive (27 dollars usd) and it’s amazing. Seeing something at the opposite end that’s super expensive and does the same thing, is really cool

As a Speciality coffee roaster I can say there is nothing to this except aesthetics. First it looks like that just follows a preset profile so it leaves room for roast defects (and a lot of it) and you should ( not of this you can crap ) let you coffee rest for at least 2 days or you are messing up your coffee. But it looks cool so that counts for something and I might just get it because it looks cool😂

@@kefka3 " It smells acrid while roasting which is why you let them rest a week or two before actually grinding and using them." that's false. The smell is not great during roasting as it's practically burning the coffee (depends on how dark roast is, light roast doesn't smell too bad) but the resting is not related to smell at all. It's to degas and let the CO2 escape. Also most roasters will not rest coffee for weeks before selling them. If you are getting a fresh batch you'll likely get them after 12-24h of degas+whatever time it takes to pack and ship them
