FF7R so far is the only game I have ever played where I experienced hard mode as a true elevation of gameplay. Hard mode made me truly fall in love with this battle system. It had that “this is how the game is suppose to be played” feel. Such a rare and beautiful experience.

I enjoyed it but didnt love it. Disabled item use as the ~true gameplay experience~ in a FF game (while items continue to exist throughout the game as item box and quest rewards and it's just blanked out in the combat menu) is awkward and inelegant balancing at best. Made it feel kinda tacked-on.

a strat to use in other FF games if a boss casts reflect on your party, use black magic on your party to reflect it onto the boss, and you can also cast reflect on the boss so the boss's healing magic heals you and such etc.(in some FF games) i think this is a fun mechanic.

I literally just took down sephiroth on hard mode without using any OP accessories, or any broken strats just recently. All I did was I adapted to the situation since I was running low on MP when I started the final fight. And boi, I pulled off a tight clutch at the end of the fight thanks to Bahamut! Might try and get all of the achievements for this game since I was having too much fun challenging myself when playing this game!

I have been going through the New Final Fantasy 7 Remake and I must say I am absolutely Thrilled' Overjoyed and totally hooked on this Very Inspired and Uplifting Remake!! The characters and the story are right in sync with the charm of the whole story❤ I remember going through the original back in the day on the PS1 playing from Dawn to midnight almost non-stop and for me personally this definitely Recaptures all the excitement and feeling I enjoyed on the classic original original!! Be it on the Still Awesome PS4 or the beefed up version on the PS5 I Highly recommend trying em out they are that good and A must for any True Final Fantasy Fan❤❤❤🎉

I think I didn't fully appreciate then battle system until I finished the game and all the summon fights etc on hard mode. In normal mode you can do whatever and still progress, but in hard mode you have to understand and exploit the mechanics and enemies' weaknesses

awesome work getting the platinum man. did it myself twice on ps4 and ps5, and it's a great trophy. the combat is amazing, the story is great and hard mode actually makes the game much better the dresses are a damn grind though, haha

Nice job brings back so many memories when I first played this game but the bosses they give me bad memories of fighting them because they were truly annoying and I would never considered fighting them on hard mode

I really hope they learned their lesson with Weiss' AI design. It's not fun when you have a party of 3 and the boss only attacks whoever you happen to be controlling at the moment. For one, it's too meta, the enemy shouldn't know who the player is controlling because the player doesn't exist from their perspective. But it's also annoying to be rushed down and never get a break no matter who you switch to. And of course, it's an awful strategy that's rife for cheese.

its ironic I gave up on the remake for I got burned out trying to beat bahamut (Ultimate Weapon Trophy).. only had 2-3 trophies left (last hard mission and the bahamut fight...) I never knew a good strategy and lost hope.. Weirdly every other boss is straight cheese, but Bahamut would somehow always never respond to me the way I needed him to, especially with how online cheese strats would say it would... Congrats BTW!

Barrett made all the difference for me. So many online strategies insisted on using Tifa, or turning the characters into glass canons... and as you said, Bahamut never behaved like he would in the videos. So I disregarded the glass canon nonsense and opted for Barrett over Tifa, and that really helped. Having Elemental materia maxed out and linked to Fire is essential, and always be using Steelskin when you can. And make sure Reprieve is activated as a weapon skill for everyone. You'll need it to get past Megaflare.

Ff7r is super fun. Barrett is the worst character imo. Hell house is my favourite boss. A few tips. For tifa, you can chain uppercut and divekick together for optimal DPS and skip the jump animation. For Barrett, you can recharge your triangle ability immediately after your square attack to also skip the animation. For cloud, either use hardedge for physical or mythril for magic. Disorder is godly for dps.

Hell House becomes considerably easier once you figure out exploiting elemental weaknesses. Honestly Elemental is one of the most important materia in the game when used effectively. My first boss fight with Reno was a major pain (also because I hadn’t fully figured out staggering and Clouds counter attack ability ) but fighting him on hard mode , I had Elemental +lightning on my armor and he was healing me though out the fight That boss rush fight on hard mode is still a major pain with no items to replenish your MP

I would have blown my brains out with 84 hours in the game. There’s 15-20 hours of filler in the game (not the side quests you can choose to do or not) just stuff like the sewers and train yard and hojos lab where they make you go around and around getting basically nowhere and ruining the momentum of the ending. The original following behind sephiroths blood trail is great and intriguing and they change it all around and have you follow purple goo. Idk, the padding and awful story changes just made it really tough for me to finish it. I’m loving rebirth far more just having the open world freedom to do things the way I want. To me there’s a great 20 hour game buried in remake somewhere.

This was the very first platinum I ever got, I received a PS4 almost 3 years ago as a gift, I wasn't expecting it at all cuz I never receive gifts lol (exactly 1 day before the release of the PS5) and it came with a code for 1 year of PS Plus and 3 games. I think it was a few months later (like 3 or 4) that FF7 Remake was a PS Plus monthly game, I played that game nonstop until I got the platinum (I have 8 now), hard mode was so incredibly fun and challenging, and recently I went through it all over again when I decided to buy it on Steam for my PC. I played the original back in 1999 when I got the PSOne and loved it, I didn't mind the changes made on this remake, also loved it for what it was, I'm missing like 6 achievements on Steam to get them all.

FF7R was perfect. Hard mode was truly the best elevation of skill, mechanics, and challenge in any game I’ve played in my 30 years. The materia system, summons, graphics, the music, the voice acting and character relationships and dynamics, the side quests, the way Cloud is completely the brooding badass we wanted him to be, and most importantly… Tifa and Aerith are both perfect. Their voice acting, their playful but sexy but strong presence… the way you literally can’t help but fall in love with BOTH of them. Red, Barrett, Sephiroth… oh man. Games like FF7R don’t come around often for me. Besides Elden Ring, I’ve still yet to be that enthralled since.

Congrats on the Platinum man! I don’t usually double up and Instant unlock platinums, but I did for this (through save file transferral between PS4 to PS5 versions) so I can play the Yuffie DLC (As both a Final Fantasy Fan and a Completionist). Weiss was awful to deal with but still way more fun than any of the branching route trophies.

There was alot about the game that felt way to inconsistent for me. Mainly just the combat. In the end I didn't enjoy anything else but the story.
