@@AMKVII The chicken quest has to be one of the most annoying escort quests I've ever done. The NPC asks you to find 3 chickens.. I nearly died when when you head to the 3rd location and your characters run half way across the map then also relieved it ended in a fight. There was no way I was going to reel that that bird across the zone like that. (Also hated Red XIII commenting every time I failed to keep the bird's attention.)

I got nearly everything in party animal done until encountering the g-bike bug, then i uninstalled the game, reinstalled without the update, and had to do it all over again from the autosave at the beginning.... only to give up on the sephiroth brawler. i'm sure i could've gotten it with more time, but i was just fed up at that point.

Too heavy focus on minigames, sidecontent and compulsory filler content (box throwing, walking simulators, and having to switch materias 1-by-1 because awful characters like Cait Sith want to fight etc) made me give this game a lower score. The ending could've been my saving grace but even that was a letdown. 7/10.

Yup, my suggestion for everyone is play the story, play all the sidequests, complete all the open world activities, go for minigames as long as you're having fun, and then forget about legendary VRs and Hard Mode, I quit the game yesterday, literally only one thing missing, Zack's VR mission, but it's just too much, If i were on PC I would probably find some way to save in-between rounds via cheats or something, because it's just straight up torture

General consensus is if you are just playing the game and don't care about achievements... you'll have a good time.. Playing the completionist route will lead you to complete every possible nook and cranny of the game... I'm just thankful I don't have to hear the song from Frog Jump EVER again lol

I would have still done all of the side quests but I probably wouldn't have bothered with a good chunk of the side content. This platinum trophy hunt was horrendous, I initially thought it wasn't going to be too bad, a similar experience like Remake + a lot of mini games, so I really enjoyed completing all of the mini game challenges (cept for Brawler Sephiroth), only to reach the brutal + legendary challenges and curse the skies for embarking on this journey. Eventually though, once you beat the VR, Hard Mode is a lot easier, it also makes you appreciate all the mechanics the game forces you to learn.

I feel the only really shitty part of it is the need to redo side quests in hard mode for the platinum. I LOVED the game, I did everything there was to do on my first run, then did all the hard mode challenges THEN a Hard mode run, but that last run was a story run for the challenge of the story bosses, there was no way I'd replay ALL the sidequests, as fun as they were. Might have been more motivated if I had waited a month or two between my normal run and my hard run.^^

Doing them in hard mode gives you manuscripts that give you the missing folios points needed to complete said Folios, and there is a Trophy attached to unlockings all weapon skills + all folios. If you simply play the story in hard mode without doing sidequests, you end up with a few nodes you can't unlock on each characters; which happened to me and made me decide NOT to do the Platinum for this sole reason ^^. Aside from this trophy, I was only missing the 300% stagger damage, and that one would have been easy with Tifa (unbridled strenght/true strike) and Cait Sith (Moogle Knuckle) against a Summon or a rare/elite monster in hard mode, but seeing the folio requirements made me quit instantly XD

The whole god damn corel cactuar one can go f**k itself with gym, pirate ship shooting and 3D brawler. At NG+ I just quit at the cactuar minigame. Aerith one just sucks. It's the only minigame I haven't completed. I love the game but the crap forced minigames ruined my mood many times.

@@lakkuh If you ever do try it again, a piece of advice is to at least be near level 50, and use Transcendence whenever you can against big cactuars, and also, trying to run up to a lot of small cactuar clusters is reccomended and then immediately use sorcerous storm, as it can kill a lot of them quickly.

Just got my platinum trophy after 156 hours and the Chocobo flying, Cactuar crush on hard, Legends of the Outer Worlds (2x summons each round, followed by a super boss, then the final boss with a new gimmick is ridiculous), Bonds of Friendship, and the GOD DAMN RED DRAGON on hard mode were the worst parts of my Platinum journey.

Chadley, cait sith, gears and gambits hard mode, fort condor hard mode, chocobo flying and racing, sephiroth 3d brawler, tifa crunch challenge, ultimate party animal, shooting minigames, swan song, Queens blood fighting the blood queen, kid G hard mode challenges mostly with aerith, coliseum bouts on hard(I found out later you can do the coliseum on easy mode and it still counts and get the rewards.), piano challenges and legendary and brutal vr challenges. (Looking at you Bonds of friendship and rulers of the outer world). I probably missed a few more, but im finally done.

Hands down the best platinum journey guide I've seen. Most of the Plat guides I watch just quickly skim over the difficult or annoying parts and don't go into detail. I think it's extremely important to detail why those specific sections are annoying or difficult so we can mentally prepare for those challenges ahead. In your video you stated how if a viewer doesn't wanna listen to someone so to speak "bitch" about the game to click off the video now. I honestly appreciate and gravitate towards guides that genuinely do bitch about the platinum journey because it shows a much more realistic outcome of whether someone has the patience to go for the platinum themselves. A lot of youtubers hide their frustrations in platinum guides because I think they don't wanna be viewed as short tempered but I think it's important to lay everything out in the open for the aspiring platinum achiever to decide if it's worth it for them. Replaying it in hard mode is faster because you can use fast travel and warp directly where you need to go. So it's because of this and overpowered materia setups. Bossfights will take some time to beat though. And swapping materia for every bossfight was soooo boring. I wish they will add materia loadouts in the next game. So you can save them and reuse them quickly

@@joelman1989 It took me almost 600 hours to finish up with this game(my last wish being to finish all the Chadley missions which I did). Granted, I've held myself back by not finishing some of the minigames that would unlock more battle progression(most notably I'm still missing party level 10, but also stuff like a first Ribbon is sort of relevant), but generally this game has a lot of stuff to do and it's wild that so many people are getting so much done so fast. I suspect that they may be not saving progress after failing in Chadley simulator, which is tripping up the time tracking and that kind of thing could be happening. Where they don't feel like they need to save their progress, so they don't save it and they come back loading up a save that didn't record the time from failing. Even if that's not the case, some of these players might have way more experience playing ARPGs. The perfect blocking for example is very difficult but is helping many players to clear all the combat challenges so much faster, and it's a mechanic that's seemingly in a lot of ARPGs nowadays. I barely did it at all but I had to get pretty good at it for the Virtual Sephiroth(still not as good as others, but good enough to beat him). I'm fine with not being at 100 percent completion, but I would have felt weird moving onto a new ARPG if I didn't finish all the regular combat challenges.

Mess around with my materia builds for 20 minutes. Others just like to get things done. Move swiftly through the story and complete only what’s necessary even if that includes everything necessary for a platinum. Especially when playing games is your job I imagine you develop the ability to move through games quickly.

Square patched in an easy toggle for Gears and Gambits and Fort Condor a few weeks back. Playing those minigames on hard mode with the toggle on and makes it a ton easier and you still get the rewards for Johnny.

I recently just beat Rulers of the Outer Worlds after several days of practice grinding. Maxing out vital powerful materia makes a world of difference. You need all the help you can get. Thankfully I find the perfect guide to help me through it that made everything much less frustrating. I realize some of these most difficult challenges varies depending on how well you are equipped with material, and what kind of skill strategy you have for these battles. Furthering your point how it ultimately comes down to what materia you equipped. As for Sephiroth’s Shadowy Chains, I just full heal the party with magnify barrier to help me through that. And it helps like crazy.

2:39 I beat course #3 by using the last vertical fans to make sure I had the correct timing. You can fly out, get a few rings and then come back to get to the right height if you didn't get perfect timing at the beginning of the mini game. There's no timer and you can go backwards to get rings you missed.

Getting the Plat in this game just isn't worth it. I beat the game on normal difficulty, and by the 110th hour, I was more than ready to eject that disc.

I was surprised you didn't mention Tifa's ultimate gym challenge. The hardest thing of that minigame is that your triggers basically become more difficult to push. Is like you're dealing with pushing a rock but you have to do that like 50 TIMES IN A RUN

THANK YOU for acknowledging that Bonds of Friendship is so goddamn hard. I hear everyone talking about Rulers of the Outer Worlds, which I think I beat in 4 attempts with a pretty simple build. Tough but absolutely achievable. I had to use the same Aeroga build with Cloud, and its still a goddamn nightmare to take down Odin. Dont even know how many attempts I did, I cant remember the last time I spent so much time on a boss.

@@s1ber1anstorm41 it's been a couple weeks since I beat RotOW, but from what I recall I used the basic build I'd been using throughout hard mode. Writing/reading is lengthy here, but execution is simple imo. Cloud is the ATB man with the Sleek Saber, Yuffie high magic focused, Barret the survivor man. I'll try to remember specifics, but it was just an all-rounder build. It's not as fast as builds I've seen online ("RoTOW in 10 minutes!"), but it has high survivability and lets you actually learn the fights and survive mechanics that would ruin your run compared to these KZbin builds. So for specifics, as far as I remember: Cloud had Sleek Saber & First Strike, Skill Master, ATB Assist, ...there might be another? Steadfast block? Can't remember offhand, but ALL purple ATB boosting materia! ATB & phys attack weapon skills. Have Transference Module as the accessory for frequent LBs. Enemy Skill for Plasma Discharge (all that ATB boosting will have this proc'ing constantly) & Sonic Boom. Reraise+magic efficiency for any fights that could go sketchy (usually Odin & Bahamut); if Yuffie or Barret die, consider using Reraise on whoever is left since Cloud does not have a Revive. Cloud's MP should ONLY be used on Reraise, infrequently and only as needed. Try to use Cloud as much as possible, between ATB assist, transference module, and plasma discharge, it's just wildly beneficial for his uptime to be maxed out. Make sure he has armlet/defensive fire&ice materia+elemental, it'll let you slide through phoenix/kujata and make him your main during Sephiroth phase 2. Chakra, Pray, HP Up, Strength Up, and Precision Defense (you WILL need this for Sephiroth phase 1, unless you are just a natural parry god). If that's more materia than you can fit, sacrifice Pray first because Cloud will also have Soothing Wind from Enemy Skill. I was not super discerning for Barret, the whole idea is that he can be the last one standing to cast Arise or swap to take some heat off Cloud/Yuffie, and to increase stagger meters as much as possible. He should have a maxed HP Up, Vitality Up, Spirit Up, Precision Defense, Steadfast Block, Chakra, Pray, and Revive. He should have room for Cleansing if needed for Gilgamesh's frog, but I personally never found it necessary to use. ATB Boost(? The L1+R1 use yellow materia, idr the name) is also very helpful in a pinch for an emergency Arise or Pray. Use his highest physical attack weapon, and the accessory is up to you, it's not a make it break decision. Unless you are healing/Raising, All ATB should be spent on increasing stagger in all fights: Bonus Round, Turbulent Spirit followed by maxed Focused Shots. I only had 2 leveled elemental materia at the time; if you have 3, you can do fire+elemental (defensive) and get rid of the Spirit Up. Finally, Yuffie. HP Up, Magic Up, First Strike, Precision Defense, Healing+All, Barrier+All, Revive, (defensive)fire+elemental (at least 2 star/"immunity" level), ATB Boost, Auto Unique Ability, Chakra, possibly haste+magnify but at this point its just personal preference. Yuffie has low health and defense, so the Auto Unique Ability will keep her throwing star spinning and keep her out of melee as much as possible. Her main purpose is to be your clutch healer if an individual Chakra or a Prayer from Barret won't suffice. Magic Barrier will be helpful for Barret during the Kujata/Phoenix fight if he does not have fire+elemental, Barrier will be critical for the Sephiroth fight. Otherwise, Yuffie should be using her elemental abilities to assist with staggering & damaging enemies. First Strike helps with getting a quick elemental affinity, Barrier, or Haste right off the top of the fight. Try to have her "ATB ready" - keep one ATB in the barrel as much as possible for sudden heals or a quick Brumal Form or Blindside when needed. Use her highest magic damage weapon, and I think I gave her the space ranger metal of honor, idr. Again, not make or break. With all this, you should have a good enough kit to feel your way through most fights. You'll have survivability, which is the one thing most of these guides don't focus on, because they are more focused on a particular build that has to be executed perfectly. Reraise is your friend if you are struggling with some fights, but the idea is to learn the mechanics so this skill becomes a safeguard for mistakes or for deliberate planning, not something to have active on all 3 characters at all times. I think the only fight I deliberately used this for was for Odin, it was just easier to plan around the Zantetsuken and have Barret & Yuffie Reraise and individually rez Cloud to finish out the fight. Sephiroth is tough, but manageable. Do your best to perfect block the physical chains, but I didn't even try to block the magic chains. Just have your party topped up before Omnislash, and make sure Yuffie uses a Barrier+All prior to Omnislash. Omnislash isn't that scary when it's dropping your party to half health instead of nuking them completely. Another note about the chains - he can't catch you in them if you use a limit break or synergy attack. Save LBs and synergies to use as DEFENSIVES during Sephiroth phase 1, particularly for magic chains. The goal is to be aggressive as possible during this whole fight. Once he gets to phase 2, he stops using chains conpletely and uses strong magic instead, always fire phase first, followed by ice. You NEED to kill him by the time Ice phase ends, because the damage is crazy. Yuffie will be fine from fire elemental, and Cloud will be fine because of fire/ice elemental. Have Yuffie use Magic Barrier for Barret during the fire phase, and Magic Barrier+All for Ice phase. Otherwise, nuke the ever loving crap out of him before he murders you all with lightning. I consistently was getting to Sephiroth in my first few attempts (and that was with only 1 fire/ice+elemental), but kept dying due to chains and Omnislash once I got to Sephiroth. Blocking the chains is tough, but the first attempt where I committed to using Barrier and LB/synergy defensively, I got to phase 2 and beat him first try. The perfect block route is possible, but it's painful to have to reset because you made one mistake. Have Barrier up ahead of time and save yourself some heartache.

I recommend looking up Optinoob's guides. I'm not the most-skilled gamer myself anymore (pushing my late 30s), so can't perfect block or dodge, and sometimes, my ATB commands take too long, but Optinoob has perfect Materia setups AND strats, which will get ANYONE through those challenges. Yes, a lot of RNG is still involved, but his guides raise your chances immensely. You can do it.

It’s like squenix heard the stereotypes of dark souls games and hadn’t played them and set out to make a game as rage inducing as absolutely possible. I don’t need that ish in my life at all. I love dark souls games. Those challenges are ALL reasonably overcome with knowledge, and feel so good to complete. These in Rebirth make me so angry I was NOT happy even after overcoming some of them; so angry I was upset that someone even considered to make them. Like what type of sadist does this to people, least of all og ff7 enjoyers. The story was great in rebirth - loved that and the humor, but omg screw the difficulty. For Glide de Chocobo, I actually struggled way more with course no. 2... 3 took me about 10 minutes (no u-turn), and 2 took me like 40 minutes. Glad you mentioned UPA & the Chicken quests. Absolutely the two low points. The chicken one shouldn't exist, and theres zero reason UPA doesn’t retroactively use your previous high scores.

My problem with the chocobo minigame is that simply allowing you to use the right stick to move the camera would have fixed 90% of it. There's simply no reason why the right stick is the same as the left, it's some of the most baffling design fumbles I've seen in a game. You're forced to do it blind about 50% of the time for no reason.

I almost have this Platinum. I just have to finish up all of Johnny’s challenges (I have 80/88) and hard mode. Really it’s the mini games that really break the game. Most of them are just unfair or not that well thought out. Honestly this Platinum kind of reminds me of Birth by Sleeps Platinum where it’s just asking way to much to be considered fair. Except instead of having to 100% the game 3 times + critical mode for all campaigns. You have 20+ mini games you have to master and a challenge mode that you MUST master + hard mode.

I got the Platinum in Remake, it was one of the most fun and memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. I thought I'd be going for he plat again but now that I've seen everything the game has to offer and know everything that's required, it's an easy decision to put this game away and probably never come back. I mostly enjoyed the mini games, but there were a few that I never want to revisit again, let alone perfect on the hardest difficulty. After spending 120+ hours on a first play through, I've pretty much had enough of this game. It's just too bad this plat is so difficult because I doubt I'll ever come back to get it after some time away from the game. I probably shouldn't feel this way but the difficulty of this plat has to some extent negatively influenced my overall view of this game. I'm not exactly sure why, as I don't even really care about trophies or achievements, probably more because I feel like I just don't have the same incentive as I usually do to play it again. Remake's plat was so much fun, the perfect amount of challenge and revisiting different parts of the story to unlock different things later. Rebirth's plat is just all way too much and probably it hits a nerve because it triples down on some of the game's few low points, forcing me to grind through stuff that I didn't like at all in the first place.

My big problem with the final side quest is that all of the gold saucer games with needing to beat the Shinra employees high score, I already had beat all of them and had to spend time getting those same high scores. I wish they had it set up where after talking to the employee at the gold saucer game, the game would recognize you already beat the score and skip it

The hardest minigames for are 3D brawler and bird hopping through rings in cosmo canyon. My advice for hard mode is to do all chadley side quests to get the best materias in the game (don't forget to beat gilgamesh). After that, hard mode is walk in the park (mastering enemy attack pattern, parry and perfect block helps immensely).

No one wants to admit that it isn't just an overtune issue: FFVII Rebirth has janky carry over from remake. Enemies with the wrong coding moment can stunlock you to death. In addition to that, enemy's AI will break, and punish you for doing too much damage and retroactively slam mechanics together: Kujata and Alexander come to mind. How many runs did Zack just. . . Not have his fucking opening ATB bar? How many times did the opening enemy aggro someone other than your controlled character? How many times were you input-read by enemy AI and punished, even when using max level swiftcast? Like, FFVII cannot have enemies operating in ARPG logic when player characters feel like RPGA

In my opinion this game is very mid. Its easily a 5 or a 6. Its a super glorified mobile game. The open world is beautiful but as empty as Anthem was. The receptiveness of every zone with chadley objectives screams rushed. The bloated hp values on enemies feels like padding. The minigames are mostly miss fires because they dont even give good rewards for the effort it takes to get rank 3. The piano mini game is by far 1 of the worst since its a rhythm game but barely asks you to jam to it since both of your eye balls have to hyper focus on 2 seperate QTE circles. The AI is worse than in 15, noctis his boyband group actively attack and hit weak spots if needed. Here all members are on the field but if the backline party isnt ranged they just wander around in circles. Its an action RPG but enemies dont react to your attacks most of the time and counter when they feel like it causing many situations of unavoidable damage taken. Cool stuff happens but its far and few in between. The whole game feels like a naruto filler arc. Easily 5-6 out of 10.

But I love that we’ve returned to an era where 100%Ing and FF game is actually really hard, requires skill, and a lot of community sharing. FF rebirth is probably the best FF game ever made
