If you have contacts at Cricut, could you suggest a future update to Design Space to allow fonts to kern automatically as other software can? That would be a game changer! 🇦🇺
@MakersGonnaLearn4 жыл бұрын
We would love that too, but unfortunately I don't think that's possible. As only some fonts need to be kerned.
@mclark22884 жыл бұрын
Silhouette can "weld" letters together, so I don't see why a cricut couldn't do that. It is so much easier than moving each letter individually. I just ordered a cricut, and I'm very disappointed to learn cricut doesn't have that option.
@oscargoldfield15934 жыл бұрын
I'm getting a Cricut for Christmas, so I'm trying to learn a few things. When I saw that you had to move each letter, I was surprised! That just seems like a ridiculous step that must be made. For $500 I would expect the letters to all weld with the push of a button. Geez. Great suggestion.
@ellynbraun70293 жыл бұрын
Can’t you just decrease the letter space? I know some things are different from computer vs mobile, but that’s what I do
@StashandNotions3 жыл бұрын
@@ellynbraun7029 you can, but it’s lazy programming when the software doesn’t do it by default. I now do all but my writing lettering in illustrator because it’s more efficient.

At the top of Design Space there's an option for letter spacing... decreasing this will automatically pull your letters together. Much easier kerning!

This is not a solution for all fonts, which is why we don't recommend it all the time because 9 out of 10 times you will still have to ungroup and manually kern :)

These are excellent tips and Being a Newbie these are really Helpful, Question when you talk about measuring How would I do that with an acrylic cup? Do I measure fully around? I've been trying to do a full wrap but can't get it just right.
@MakersGonnaLearn4 жыл бұрын
Great question! For sizing vinyl on cups, we recommend sizing them around 3". When sizing them, if you go too large your design will look warped if the decal wraps too far around the cup.

OMGoodness! I've watched a few of y'all's videos but THIS video has just made me a subscriber! 😘. I'm super new to Cricut, have a Explore 2 and have been trying so hard to follow different tutorials trying to make a shirt for my teens but haven't actually cut anything because I haven't felt confident that I'm doing anything right and too scared to mess up and ruin the materials or the Explore. THIS video is so simple to understand ( so many folks make tutorials so darn complicated) and SOOO helpful. Also I'm looking forward to clicking the other links for more details on these tips! Thank you so very much for your help 👍🏾❤️

Aww!!! Jenniffer, you're so sweet!! Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed this tutorial. If you're looking for an easy one on how to use HTV (the material you'll use for your teens), here's a good one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5WQiWOXp7-hp8k .

I just noticed this weekend with the cursive writing that it still cut individual letters. Thanks for the welding tip! I needed the last tip since November....yea Christmas projects sucked because of that. Just figured out that was my problem last week.

I wouldn't say all of these are mistakes, but more about preference. I have always used my light blue mats the most, even for vinyl and HTV because thats what I prefer. The green is ok but a little more sticky than I prefer. I also hate weeding from my mat.
@heathergallant23614 жыл бұрын
thank you! I was feeling like I've been pretty successful with the blue mats and weeding on my craft table. I was worried I was a total fraud!

FWIW, I need to use my blue mats on vinyl a LOT until they become unsticky enough to not cause my papers and cardstocks to stick to the mat and disintegrate when I try to remove them from the mat.
