OH MY GOODNESS!!! This video has been such a breath of fresh air!!! I'm a crafter who is interested in purchasing a Cricut machine and I thought I'd educate myself FIRST. So I googled "Cricut 101" and the first video I watched was a tutorial by a woman called "Tay." That video was such a confusing hot mess! So I scrolled down a little further & saw this one. The amazing thing is, I've NEVER used a Cricut and your tips & hacks have educated me and motivated me to where I'm TOTALLY confident I'll be buying a Cricut!!! I'll need more tutorials AND practice; plus I'll have to decide which machine to buy, which products (vinyl, htv, etc.) but your channel is a perfect place for me to start. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Just an FYI, when you make a video, especially for beginners, never assume they know what you are talking about. Maybe you want to show examples in the video. What is weeding?
@MakersGonnaLearn4 жыл бұрын
Weeding is removing the excess vinyl you do not want from your vinyl before adding transfer tape to it. This video might be for beginners, but for someone to come looking for hacks we assume they have simple/general knowledge about their machine. One of the perks of our Makers Gonna Learn membership are printable guides with definitions to all of the confusing Cricut terminology :) www.makersgonnalearn.com/join/

Another hack, when you're trying to center your large vinyl on something, leave the backing on, tape one side down and all down the middle, peel back the untaped half, cut away the exposed backing, then slowly roll your transfer tape and vinyl down working from the middle out so you don't get bubbles. Then do the same on the other half. I like doing it this way because I can move it however I want and once I like where it's at, it gets taped down so it doesn't move. I've had 0 failed projects doing it this way and nearly 0 bubbles. Hope this helps someone!

I am serious. I do tons of graphics on the computer. Not only that, but I am no stranger to most graphic software. Not only that, but I have been doing that for over 20 yrs now. I find myself imitated by this machine, I know, very silly. What would be the first thing to do? BTW I have all the papers, vinyls, pens, heads, everything that you would need to make almost anything. I just need a push of some sort. I have watch tutorials and read instructions on the net. Seems I require a Cricut for Dummies Book , LOL Thanks everyone. Any advice is welcomed.

Wow! Good ideas but you talk MUCH too fast. This is a Beginner class and we certainly need you to slow it down. You are enthusiastic, which I love. I'm going to have to watch this video multiple times, because there are times you start talking so quickly, I can hardly keep up with anything you say. Surely you have heard this before.

If you read the other comments you can see I have heard it before, which is why more comments about it aren't necessary. Feel free to watch it as many times as you'd like.

HTV??? Although I’m a beginner I happen to know the term because I’m in the decorating industry. A true beginner would not. Please reconsider your title or your audience.

i wouldn't say that caddy was MADE for cricut blades. ive had one that exact style with the same compartments and everything since before cricut was a thing, it was originally marketed as a beading caddy. of course over the years they've remarketed the old product in new packaging with new uses.
@MakersGonnaLearn3 жыл бұрын
It was a figure of speech meaning the Cricut blades and tools fit so well in the caddy that it COULD be made for them :)

I heard on another video that you only wanna do reverse weeding if you are planning to put it straight on something afterwards and not if you’re making a decal sticker because if you put it back on the adhesive backing it activates the sticky part and will keep it from sticking it to something else later. So with that being said, if I’m making a decal on small, intricate designs, how do I weed without messing up the design?

Where you have written on the scraps with a sharpie pen I thought they were permanent markers? Does this mean you cannot remove the writing of the scrap? Would a clear slip with a label be better so you don’t lose the area of scrap you write on? Just curious as all new to me. Thank you for your video. 🦋

THIS WAS AWESOME! I love all of the hacks you shared but the cardstock hack was great... A little story that might make you cringe. My wonderful husband purchased the Maker for my last year for Christmas because I love crafting, but especially card making. Lets just say that after a lot of bad words being said, and wasted product and time I packaged up the Maker and put it in the closet and went back to my 'old school' DIY way of making cards. Long story short, I recently saw a video on how to use the Cricut to write out my envelopes and was re-energized! ONE of my biggest complaints last year was that the final product (card) was curled. SO THANK you for that hack! I also tried Fast Mode -- and lets just say, I decided immediately not to use it! ON that note, I do have a question. How do you feel about using fast mode for writing out cards/sentiments/envelopes?
@MakersGonnaLearn3 жыл бұрын
Love that story!!! Haha!! Trial and error! Yes ma'am, we don't recommend using fast mode on that. To be honest, we barely ever use fast mode.

You probably have good info but if this is for beginners then you need to show us what you are talking about right in video not just say go to link. Like what is reverse weeding. Imo. I appreciate your enthusiasm tho.
@MakersGonnaLearn3 жыл бұрын
So, the reason the other videos of my techniques are linked is because when you need them later... would you rather have 1 short to the point video to go to or a long video where I demonstrate 15 different things? Most would not choose to sift through 1 extremely long video for 1 technique. This way, whenever you need it, you can simply click the link to that specific video ;)

For me to get my vinyl to stick some times I have to use my heat gun.
@MakersGonnaLearn3 жыл бұрын
You should never use a heat gun on regular adhesive vinyl. Make sure what you're applying it to is clean, we recommend using rubbing alcohol to clean before applying vinyl.

Hi from the uk. I've just purchased a cricut maker in a moment of...I need that 🤭 not got it out of box yet. But I'm panicking now cos I'm of lets say, more mature years and not too technically minded (computers and stuff) is it as easy as every tutorial I've watched, says it is? Worried I've spent alot of money 😫😳 does it give step by step instructions 🤞🙏
@karenbutts90284 жыл бұрын
I just bought mine. I was a little concerned too, as I am 70. In the box, there is enough info to help you get started, and then they walk you through a simple project once you are all set up. I think you will be fine.

Omg fast mode FAIL is right. I used it on HTV and boy it took longer for me to scrape off the botched HTV, buy more product then start over 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ in addition, I tried it on card stock (Martha Stewart) and I ended up cutting some parts off myself 🤣 no fast mode for me!
