That's funny because this is also my favorite game of the series however I would love to see some of the mechanics from the newer titles implemented such as: - Cover system (being able to peek over and fire from behind cover) - Dedicated melee button (in the original you had to equip the machete before you hit an enemy, making it really clunky and awkward) - Stealth Takedowns (The game DID have a machete takedown but it wasn't an instakill and the enemy would scream and alert everyone to your presence so you couldn't use it for stealth) - Diving Animations (Doesn't really affect gameplay but it adds to the immersion when jumping into water) - Vaulting system (Jumping over obstacles or climbing to improve mobility, it's frustratingly easy to get stuck on a rock or a short fence) - Interactive Wildlife (the animals in the game were little more than background decorations and I prefer they had more character. However the game is difficult enough so adding predators might unbalance things) - Drive By Shooting (Firing handguns and dropping grenades out of moving vehicles) - Cooking Grenades (press a button to pull the pin and only throwing it when the button is released) I don't think these would alter the core gameplay too much, it would just improve the outdated and clunky controls of the game and add an extra level of immersion. Nearly everything else I would keep the same, I love the brutal realism and how you never really feel like an unstoppable killing machine. Getting caught off guard was often a death sentence no matter how well equipped you think you are.

This is my favorite game of the series (and one of my favorite games in general) and I probably replayed it a dozen times during quarantine. The immersion is unlike anything else, the war torn country feels lived in and the atmosphere is oppressive yet strikingly beautiful. So many little details were accounted for and the game lets you approach your mission from a variety of ways. It's one of the only games that actually requires you to plan out your attack and the satisfaction you get when you actually pull off a complicated task you spent hour preparing is unmatched. There are a number of new mods that really smooth out the rough edges, such as realistic weapon damage (so the enemies aren't bullet sponges) better inventory management systems, making guns function like their real world counterparts (ammo capacity and recoil), improved mobility so your character doesn't feel like a slug in a firefight, enemy factions will attack each other (it really helps immersion), and an improved Stealth Suit to make it easier for stealth players. "Redux" if a fantastic mod but my personal preference is "Tom's Realism+" because it comes packaged with a graphic enhancer that REALLY makes the environment pop and the Machete Takedown a 1 hit kill so you can actually use it for stealth. I suggest anyone looking to play this game on PC download one of these mods because it really helps the overall experience without altering the core mechanics.

Awesome to see my favourite aussie make a video about Far Cry 2 :), i did love the edits, and i loved the details and environment, in a Far Cry 2 video by "Face Full Of Eyes" (also made a video about SWAT 4 which i recommend watching), he showed alot of interesting stuff (burning passwords, diamond deals gone bad, buildings vary from colonial, to industrial to shanty to old tribal stuff Oh yeah, and also i love the selection of weapons in Far Cry 2, except for the certain things (left handed bolts, sideways sight for the RPG-7, making the G3 weak even though it literally fires 7.62 NATO and not 22 lr), and unlike in the next Far Cry games where you get shiny clean brand new modern day guns, instead you get old abandoned cold war era guns, even when you just got a brand new Desert Eagle you can still notice a couple of scratches Anyways, keep up the good work Tantwo :]

So you are gonna want start with a nice marinade, i prefer teriyaki sauce. As it has both sugar and salt. Once you have defrosted your salmon fillets, you are going to want to put the fillets in a bowl full of your marinade, for about 40 - minutes to an hour. After about 20 minutes, start you are going to start cooking your rice with your rice cooker. Follow the instructions on the rice bag. Once your salmon is done marinading, you are going to want to apply your seasoning, melted butter and lemon juice. Then put the salmon fillets on the hot zone of your grill. I don’t preheat it because im not a pussy bitch. After cooking on the skin side for about 6-8 minutes depending on the size and thickness of the salmon. Then flip it and cook for another 2-4 minutes. The less time you cook it, can determine how effective the meal is for weight loss (in terms of intestinal parasites). Depending how braindead i wrote this, your rice should be done when your salmon is done.

A fellow Aussie playing 2 rn, this game can be described with the experience I just had. I drove 7 minutes, was shot at 5 times (excluding out posts), and had to fix my car 3 times (this is with the assault truck upgrade) to do a mission that took me 90 seconds.

Far cry 2 is a game about war. And war is: -long -expensive -grim -devastating -exhausting -pointless -and ALWAYS THE SAME I think that it's quite obvious that Far cry 2 is anti-war game. Which is genius. Devs literally made those similar quests in order to make players feel tired from war.

idk about that, calling the lack of unique missions in the game genius because of a thematic choice ignores the fact that there are no unique missions in the game. U can convey the message of war without copy paste missions. War can make u tired but it doesnt bore you. Theres no difficult choices or sad moments in the game like there should be if war was a theme, theres no effort to show how the war is affecting the place or the grim realities of war. Mass Effect on the other hand shows the impact of the worlds events brilliantly

@@pickleman47 but war *IS* a copypast. It's always the same. How don't you get bored from doing exactly the same things? You don't do anything but standing guard, shooting here, shooting there, going from one position to another, ambush enemy supplies, assassinate targets, sometimes explode something and infiltrate enemy territory for the intel. There is no choice because there is literally no difference. No matter what you choose, it will have one result - more blood and violence. Because it's war. And Mass effect? If somebody asked me about *WAR* games - that wouldn't be in that list. Great game, great story, I love it. But it's all about story and characters, not about war itself. Every mission is unique and you simply don't feel that depression that war gives you. You are not some nameless grunt with a gun. You are super commander with super team on super ship. And really... there ain't really a lot of "difficult" choices. Well, maybe in ME1 you choose who's gonna die but that's it. Right decisions during the story are quite obvious. If you play since the beginning of the story - you can easily have unrealistic happy ending with all who don't die by script survives. It's colorful story, but not about war. War is gray.

My favorite Far Cry will always be Blood Dragon. I've missed that military science fiction element the original and the Far Cry Instincts had. As for 2, it needed more wildlife in the game world. Plus, gun jams and explosions could've affected the enemies as well.

I started this game on normal, but it was kicking my ass; it got so bad that I had to switch to easy. As time went on, I got the hang of this game. But at the same time, I just wanted to be done with it to the point of focusing solely on main missions. There's still a lot to like about this game: it takes place in Africa, which is pretty personal for me. You also learn some life lessons: your "buddies" turning on you near the end effectively proves they never were your friends, and it shows that some stories just don't have happy endings (needless to say, I've had a pretty fucked up life). So all in all, I'm rather glad I forced myself to finish this instead of just skipping to 3.

The spassing out NPC (in my game the NPC's would start jumping higher than the buildings) I found the best way to deal with it is to force cap the game to 60 fps, the redux mod also fixes this issue. As for why the guns are inverted is due to the Devs wanting to show of their action work, happened with the original counter strike and in fallout. Quick saves are on the disk version for pc as well, I only recently got the steam version but most of my playtime comes from the disk version, so I have only recently started playing with the fortune dlc pack weapons, they are not on the disk version, from what I recall you could download the dlc files and then add them to your disk but I'm no coding expert.

If I were to compare Farcry to another game it would be STALKER, not necessarily in terms of Story or setting (though you could draw comparisons) but the gameplay and survival mixed with Brutal combat. sadly the other games don't follow suite. heres hoping that Farcry 7 takes inspiration to create a more brutal world and mechanics to match

I personally Far Cry went to shit after 2. With Far Cry 2 imo being a 10/10 and Far Cry 3 a 0/10. Far Cry 2 is a perfect game for me, and Far Cry 3 watered it down so much, the cartoony graphics, the easy combat, and how the story forces you into playstyles. Far Cry 2 to me is the perfect game and Far Cry 3 is the antithesis to it imo (while in the same genre). Far Cry 3 imo ruined Far Cry.

I love this game. Max immersion and intense combat. Regarding the story: I'm a hired assassin - so if killing bothered me I wouldn't be in country. I don't care who or how many I take out as long as I get paid - that's just the kinda guy I am, and I love my job.

I love how you can do a little role play with it. You can make some ethical decisions or you can be a stone cold killer who just wants to get paid no matter what you have to do to get it.

STEP 1 To make the base, butter and line a 23cm loose-bottomed tin with baking parchment. Put the digestive biscuits in a plastic food bag and crush to crumbs using a rolling pin. Transfer the crumbs to a bowl, then pour over the melted butter. Mix thoroughly until the crumbs are completely coated. Tip them into the prepared tin and press firmly down into the base to create an even layer. Chill in the fridge for 1 hr to set firmly. STEP 2 Slice the vanilla pod in half lengthways, leaving the tip intact, so that the two halves are still joined. Holding onto the tip of the pod, scrape out the seeds using the back of a kitchen knife. STEP 3 Pour the double cream into a bowl and whisk with an electric mixer until it’s just starting to thicken to soft peaks. Place the soft cheese, icing sugar and the vanilla seeds in a separate bowl, then beat for 2 mins with an electric mixer until smooth and starting to thicken, it will get thin and then start to thicken again. Tip in the double cream and fold it into the soft cheese mix. You’re looking for it to be thickened enough to hold its shape when you tip a spoon of it upside down. If it’s not thick enough, continue to whisk. Spoon onto the biscuit base, starting from the edges and working inwards, making sure that there are no air bubbles. Smooth the top of the cheesecake down with the back of a dessert spoon or spatula. Leave to set in the fridge overnight. STEP 4 Bring the cheesecake to room temperature about 30 mins before serving. To remove it from the tin, place the base on top of a can, then gradually pull the sides of the tin down. Slip the cake onto a serving plate, removing the lining paper and base. Purée half the strawberries in a blender or food processor with the icing sugar and 1 tsp water, then sieve. Pile the remaining strawberries onto the cake, and pour the purée over the top.

I actually don’t think later Far Cry games are “watered down”, they have the opposite issue of being too bloated with progression systems. I like Far Cry 2 because its systems emphasise player DISempowerment rather than empowerment. Malaria, weapon durability, the aggressive enemy AI, patrols and respawning checkpoints, lack of ability to tag enemies etc. it’s all about creating a hostile world where you have to become utterly ruthless just to survive. It wasn’t a perfect game, in particular it can feel formulaic and repetitive, but to me it’s far more distinct than any later far cry game where it’s just constantly levelling up until you become an unstoppable gigaman who dominates the world. In Far Cry 2 you can never dominate, just survive. Sure you can buy bigger guns, upgrade them somewhat, get better safehouses and carry more supplies but you don’t get anything like the broken stealth and takedown mechanics that FC3 and later games have, you remain fairly squishy for the entire game, Malaria and weapon durability are always there. You have to adapt or die and can’t just grind your way to more power the same way later games do.

i just finished the game. took me 20 hours. i loved this game. but there are some things i dident liked. you are constantly ambushed everywhere. on the road you cant go a mile without another truck or more chasing after you. alot of time it feels like driving/walking simulator. i loved the gunplay. this what kept me going. the game has one of the best gunplay in the series.

imo fc2 is the hardest to rank, it might be the most immersive of all the fcs but i guess that's because of its difficulty and the fact that u need to be rly focused, due to the fact that your weapons get rusty, there is a lack of fast travel, and the gameplay is so outdated that it makes it hard to go trough faction outposts without getting killed, like in that one on the first part of the map where you need to explode a van, on the first couple of missions. strangely enough, that added difficulty made me like the game a bit more than i expected. HOWEVER, there is one HUGE issue that i have with the game, and its the bugs. it pissed me off, the fact that i'd go into cease fire zones in order to accept a mission and the npcs would start floating in the air and eventually die, making me have to flee and then come back in order to hope that they don't die again so i CAN ACCEPT THE GOD DAMN MISSIONS. another issue i had was on the second part of the map where i'd go inside the leader houses, and WHILE THEY WERE SPEAKING, THE NPCS OUTSIDE WOULD DIE AND THEN IT WOULD BE HELL FOR ME TO ESCAPE AND BE ABLE TO PROGRESS TROUGH THE STORY. with that said, the game was great but the bugs ruined the experience for me.

Some of the best gunshot sounds effects and effects in general but like you said some don’t sound great. The explosions are some of the best. I love it when I start an explosion but it takes a second for it to explode and I’m running away and just hear a huge boom behind me

I bought the wooden box edition, had that t shirt for years, unfortunately dont think i ever finished the game, though the attention to detail and the beauty of the game space was just breathtaking at the time. Coming off the previous farcry titles I was really disappointed however, going from a super soldier that could rip m60s off their mounts and run around with them to a normal guy with diarrhea was a let down and a half

I'm working my way through the series, and was relieved to get to Far Cry 2 after finally finishing the brutal gauntlet that is the first game. Early on I'm very confused by the weapon and upgrade system, the game doesn't even let you know what weapons are in your hands for one thing. Then I'm using some kind of crossbow that fires explosive rounds, that isn't int he list at all? Once i figure out what the hell is going on there it seems like it should be a good game.

There is a weapon stat screen in the pause menu that can help you figure out what gun is what. But yeah besides that and the Vendors the game doesn't tell you, I never had that issue because I already recognised the guns

Ahhh Far Cry 2. Probably spent more time on this game then any other single player game I’ve ever played. Beat this easily 9-10 times back on my 360 and since buying a PC have added mods and played it a bit as well. This is a game that, while graphically has aged like a fine wine, gameplay wise… not so much. I always see people asking for Ubisoft to make a remake but FUCK THAT. I don’t trust Ubisoft to do anything correctly anymore. What I personally would love to see is a spiritual successor using modern tech. A massive game world including savannas, jungles, mountains, deserts, realistic incorporation of animals and ecosystems (seeing cheetahs hunting gazelles kinda shit) the occasional predatory animal encounter (elephants, crocodiles, hippos, etc.) and a gameworld that actually feels ALIVE with civilian NPCs that don’t exist just to shoot you on sight. Settlements such as cities, shanty towns and overpopulated slums, ports, faction-controlled diamond mines and oil refineries, fishing and tribal villages, refugee camps, etc. Bring back the Buddy system but make it more like the GTA heist system, where each buddy has a specialty and you can plan missions out with them to use said specialties, and each buddy gets a cut of the pay. A simple squad command system for them in missions would be nice too. Realistic yet still fun gunplay like we see in games such as Insurgency or Escape From Tarkov. More in depth weapon degradation and customization, where parts can be traded out that impact not only the weapons functionality but durability (chrome lined barrels vs stock, wood furniture vs polymer, etc.) Buy shitty weapons for cheap from a gun dealer in a Bakara Market inspired open-air gun market in a shit hole slum town, or buy them at a marked up price from a professional. Make traversing the world interesting; do you take all your gear with you in the trunk of a taxi driver and hope you can bribe your way through an outpost, or hire another guy who has a scheme to smuggle the weapons nearer to your location? Do you hump it out on foot and use backroads and the jungle to get to your objective? Give us more survival elements that actually make sense instead of stupid malaria, such as a weight system and need for food and sleep, and the ability to set up camp in the wilderness or spend a night at a hotel, inn or brothel. Give us an ACTUAL narrative with narrative choices and a dynamic faction system. The potential for a game like this would be limitless, but unfortunately it only lives on in my dreams 😴
