淘淘/Tao Tao (M), DOB: 3rd Aug 2010. Mother is wild born Panda 草草/Cao Cao. DOR: 11 Oct 2012 He was found in 2017 doing well with his own territory. Note: He was to release when he was around two years sub-adult whereby his territorial instinct was not very strong, this might be the reason he survive because he was not ready to fight another panda for territory at that age. So a few years in the wild might be reason he survive to full adult. Another thing is, male panda tends to fight for territory & mating rights, therefore male panda is much more susceptible to injury due to such fights.

What happened to Tao Tao? 🙁

He was recaptured in December of 2017 and was released back into the wild, after he was examined and was found to be healthy. But I’ve not heard any updates on him since. Really hope he’s still thriving in the wild. He’s such a gorgeous panda.
