I worked at Taos winter 2014-2015 and I have to agree, the snow dump is unreal! Best snow of my life as well, and I remember shredding my first double diamond on a powder day where we got six feet over 10 days. Still my favorite mountain to date!

Hey man, I really appreciate all of the snowboard content you make . It helps the time pass between trips to the mountains!

The only thing I would say on scoring is the ease of access. Obviously you aren’t gonna be able to fly within 15-30 mins of a resort because they are on top of mountains. I would say a hour to hour half drive should at least be an 8 in scoring. Just my opinion. Great videos love them

There are mtns that exist 20 mins from an airport but those are resorts in a huge town like steamboat

Might be worth mentioning that the gondola is just a tiny little pulse gondola that just serves the base area and only goes up like 40 vertical feet

Taos is a totally rad snowboard mountain, because it is quite steep and not for beginners. Some crazy bowls and great trees.

Same bruh, being from Texas…Angel Fire is what I consider my “home mountain” but if I want to snowboard down some big mountain terrain then Taos is definitely my go to place in NM.

I'm confused as to where these prices are coming from, I just looked at a two day pass on a weekend (I know that's going to affect it) but it was like 500 bucks. Am I missing something here?

@@JohnathanBuckhouse ah I see. I guess that makes sense because the prices fluctuate so much. Maybe on the next review you can go to the actual website and do like a couple samples of different days during the season? Either way, I appreciate the review! Wife and I will be headed to Taos next year!

I’ve been skiing Taos since 1983. They have the best, happiest employees out of anywhere that I have been. Except the one girl who worked at the Phoenix the week before they shut down for Covid. Maybe she was just pissed because she knew that they were going to close.

Worth noting that Taos can be very fickle. I live in Santa Fe and there’s a reason my season pass is at Wolf Creek. Yes, Taos can be amazing *if* you catch it on the few truly amazing days that happen each season. But for Taos to be a go, they need a 65-70”+ base which takes most of the season to accumulate and a dump of more than 10” which only seems to happen a few times per year there. Otherwise Taos is a giant mogully mess anywhere that isn’t groomed. Just about anytime I’ve ridden there I’ve put some “souvenirs” in my ptex and lift tickets now are pretty outrageously priced. I’m not saying that it’s not a good mountain - but it takes a special day to make Taos special. Yes Wolf Creek is shorter, and benchy - but they get consistent snowfall and I always seem to have more fun there than I do at Taos. Just my .02; but I feel like Taos is kind of overrated unless you’re a rich skier in Patagonia or Arc’teryx lol

Just went to Taos for the first time 2 days ago and holy shit if you want to ride some crazy stuff you can find all you can handle. It was a 20” + powder day and completely insane

Just an update, this year Taos is $155 if you buy the day of. Also I hear Taos is getting rid of the Terrain Park. Last season there was a petition going around to save the park.

Toas has its own “airline” Toas air now so ease of access is fantastic only 45 minutes from landing and plane tickets are cheap. Only downside is that very few airports fly Toas air

@Johnathan Buckhouse I noticed you have Mt. Lemmon scheduled for Feb. 4th. Just a heads up, it might not be open but there's a chance it will, just depends on the snow kinda like how cloudcroft was. But when it's open the place is so sick besides not having a park.

Taos is my home mountain and the only thing they don’t have is a good park. They have three parallel runs that aren’t worth skiing and I think they should make those into the park and have a small medium and large areas

Unfortunately new mexico has a park problem. The only mtns with a decent park is red river. The rest just have it for the 20 locals and its more of a passion thing than a budget thing. New mexicos locals are full of old retired dudes that have a stigma for park rats. And those are the guys that are on the executive committee. The parks dont really get better they just are acceptable. Red bull didnt renrw their contract with angel fire and red river because it took to much persuading to have them build these awesome jumps. Their logic is this. Most park guys dont go to nm for the park they have colorado a couple of hrs away from taos. They want those old retired families that go for a vacation. As a local we make it work, though. Most locals work part time or full time on the mtn and we build festures for the passion of it.
