*quick note - I mentioned that Hedge Woundwort looks like Nettle as it’s in the same family “Lamiaceae” - Nettle is in the family “Urticacea” I had it written down in my notes as the plant being in same family as Mint - Which is Lamiacea but ended up talking about Nettles. They are not the same family! But do look similar and share similar characteristics. Anyway - brain is fried from editing and life, apologies for the mix up!

With the whistle, do you need to blow into the hole in the bark?

@@mr.commonsense no, you just need a slight gap between the outer bark and the inner stick at the very tip of the whistle. It’s this tiny gap that you blow air through that then hits the main chamber and is reverberated around causing the whistle noise.

Very good tip for identifying plants from the lamiaceae family is to look at the shape of the stem, all of those plants have square stems

@@TAOutdoors I know it's off topic for the video, but for hobbyist bushcrafting, which would you recommend: a folding saw with a machete, or a machete with a saw pattern on the its back?

The live trap is a great thing to know. Where I live, not only are they not illegal, they are required - it is the deadfalls and other traps that are outlawed. Trappers are required to check the traps regularly to release any species (unharmed) that are not allowed to be trapped. So the trap must not harm the animal.

13:15 I've been using the same knot for tying two similarly thick pieces of rope for a long time now and it's never failed me. It's called a Zeppelin Bend. Incredibly easy to tie, will never come undone regardless of how much weight you put on it, and it's also super easy to undo, even after being under tension for days. And also it's clean and pretty.

Seriously..... I am normally underwhelmed, but for once, I am literally blown away. Thank you. PS The basket can be used to carry firewood, food or supplies, create a quick lift to keepstuff dry like a table, fine sticks can create a nice fish basket.... or.. thicker sticks can be secured for a decent toilet. The basket method with two longer sticks might help carry large game in a pinch. Amazing. Urine can be used to bleach and soften leather..... coal in water also makes lye which can help in tanning. I use a Rapala knot for a solid knot

I liked all of this; its got a lot of expandable know-how condensed, and a bit in return: Archimedes-Bridge, this friction frame will suit your bush-craft shelter building so-well, it's a game-maker, older than dirt; once the concept is memorized, it can be developed into your style, you have a foundation you can walk on, literally pile stones onto your bush-craft roof.

A whistle is especially useful. When you get lost and scream for help you'll eventually lose your voice, but a whistle doesn't stress the throat. And not just on dry land, also when being at sea.

Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. With the live trap I was able to catch wild rabbits that were trouble for my and my neighbor's garden. A 10 mile drive down into the forest and released them. Went by a couple months later and spotted a few of them. And my garden is doing much better.

that trap took me back to when my dad showed me how to make one when with a empty ice cream tub ( it was a big tub lol ) and a stick in the back yard when i was about 8 and off school with a broken arm i had forgotten all about it and his lecture on just because i was not at school doesn't mean i cant learn something useful, so thank you for that little trip down memory lane, now at 34 i love to go and show my nephew things like this and get him out from behind his xbox

On the homestead, we make a salve with the purple nettle. I've seen it turn major brown recluse bites turn into minor bites. Every body is different, so what works for some might not be as effective for others, but it takes the itch out of bites, cleans, coagulates, and accelerate the healing of wounds. We've seen it work miracles for diaper rash and skin irritation. Our salve is made from the plant, beeswax, and I believe an essential oil. Can't tell you what, idk. But this plant works wonders for wounds big and small, and skin surface ailments. I believe the plant is also edible.

Hedge woundwort also repels mosquitoes. Although I always use achillea millefolium for treating cuts, and tanacetum vulgare to repel insects. Hedge woundwort doesn't grow where I live.
