Oh yes! Ive been looking for footage of Tapunuli Orangutans! Thanks for uploading! I think the clip at 2:41 is very interesting. The male orangutan is telling the camera man to go away. At first I was unsure why he was breaking and throwing branches but near the end of the clip, you see him do a big kiss-squeak! That means "you're too close to me! go away!" The orangutan at 3:19 and 5:53 is also doing this.

I agree with you. I think the cameraman should dress in a ghillie suit stuck with leaves and blend in.

Binatang aja makan buah yg udah mateng,yg mentah nggak dipetik.

I recently heard or watched something that less than 10% of the ocean's life has been discovered. 90% unknown that kinda creeps me out. There is still hope for the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and even the Abominable Snow Man. I see article's about all of them quite oftent in grocery store check out lines.

Batang Toru is an exceptionally valuable and beautiful forest area. It should have been established as a major nature reserve decades ago. The Indonesian govt should decree this forest as either a nature reserve or a national park. All remaining 130 thousand hectares of it. If the forest isn't protected then the orangutans won't be protected either. Batang Toru is incredibly beautiful. Let us save it and protect it now before it is too late.

They are wonderful creature, but so close to extinction! I love the way they can bend and sway tall trees they are on to reach the next one. It must take an innate knowledge of tree physics!

I am completely onboard with a new species of Orangutan but the "NEW" part is confusing. How can a scientist or biologist determine the life span without following one specific animal from birth to death. Wouldn't it be prudent to say it's to soon to determine life spans at this point. In today's world people try to discredit claims and with one out of place fact the needed attention for this critically endangered species "could" receive some significant pushback. I'm excited for the discovery but cautious about the perception.

“new” really just means undiscovered which isn’t really accurate either: these orangutans have been living in this forest for thousands of years and people have known about them for a long time, however what’s “new” is that some scientists have decided that this specific population of orangutans are different enough from the other groups of orangutans that they can be considered a different species. So really the only thing “new” about these orangutans is that they have a new scientific name different from orangutans in borneo and other parts of sumatra

How long do orangutans nurse. How much milk is required for nursing baby?
@ForestGirlTeresa
@ForestGirlTeresa Жыл бұрын
I have heard they can nurse their little ones for up to 5 years. The young one stays until they are 7 or 8 years old. Don’t know how much milk the child requires.
