Pioneer's double tape decks were manufactured in the 90s and are among the best you can buy today, especially when looking at price. They sold well when they were new and are still very popular on used websites like Mercado Livre and OLX. However, your purchase requires care and attention to certain details.
Even the simplest models in the CT-W line offer top quality sound, comparable to much more famous decks that cost (much) more.
They are resistant and durable, as their mechanisms use parts that are relatively easy to obtain. However, the electronics can be complicated, and they also have their weaknesses.
To exemplify this situation, in this video we analyze the history of the acquisition of 5 models that, coincidentally, are all from the line whose number ends in "4".
Each of them has a story, but they were all purchased on Mercado Livre or OLX, some of which were repaired, others were condemned to scrap.
By analyzing these stories, we ended up writing down the most important points to note during the purchase.
