Nice vid! Many People have no idea what goes on with bearings until they have a problem.... I had a bearing go out on our pop-up camper. I had the parts, just the race was like stuck or froze on shaft. I got lucky by asking a farmer, while he was milking cows in VT. He came to the spot we had been broke down. No lye, horse trailer full of stuff. Generator running, big air compressor and tool box and power tools. We just did the corded power grinder and chisel to get race off. He did want to take any $. So we just sent his family a Christmas card with $. We did the same for others when we had farmed...

I always tell my son nothing ever broke because it was greased to much. Ive got a bearing packer just like it. Best money ive spent for greasing bearings the easy way.

There’s a lot of guys who think maintenance is for rich folks I guess. I work on a lot of stuff for people that could have been prevented with simple maintenance. And yes, that bearing packer is great. It makes it so simple and makes less of a mess.

@@rosstheoliverman i used to do it the old way with a hand full of grease and push it into the bearing until i got the packer. Its definitely less messy. Ive seen quite a bit of the same lack of maintenance on some equipment ive bought before. I guess it was beneath them to do maintenance.

When I use the old race to punch in the new one I took a grinder with a cutting wheel and cut the old race at a 45 deg that way you can use a screwdriver to pop it out. Good video, Ill have to check out that hammer.

That’s a good idea! I should have just got my bearing driver out but that would make too much sense lol. You won’t regret that hammer. I have more than one and they’re great.

I work for a roller bearing maker, the one with a capital T dont handle the bearings with bare hands use gloves the skin oils mess up the surfaces dont heat bearings with a torch, they are heat treated to be hard and heating them up ruins the heat treatment and kills longevity keep out dirt, as much as possible keep out the dirt because contamination is the number 1 enemy of bearings
