Brother in law got this for our family gaming group early this year but due to 2020 being the year of halting social gatherings it’s not happened yet. Managed 5 games of Scythe: Rise of Fenris and that’s all. Great review as always BG4K.

I wouldn’t bother with the insert on the outer box. It did my head in so I just lobbed it all in the box. There’s a sort of insert in the box that separates the board from the minis which is a lifesaver.

Yeah, called Plans and Ploys I think, or something like that. Seems like there’s plenty of game before needing an expansion though.

Prob wouldn’t use it anyway. Chucking everything in baggies is easier. Thanks for letting me know though! I’ll look for that for any other Stonemaier games.

Love your stuff. Would really like to hear about your mic + video setup? It's great. Also, surprised to hear about your review. Seems like a lot of people have been dumping on this game. Now I'm curious.

For Audio I use a Rode Video Mic into a Behringer mixer then tweak in FCPX. Video is Canon EOS R with 16-35mm f2.8 mkii and sometimes a 50mm for some b roll. I use my own custom LUT and fcpx on an old 2012 MacBook Pro (yes it still handles 4K easily!) to edit although I sometimes do then initial edit on my iPhone using LumaFusion when I’m on my break at work. I went into the game with zero expectations as I read the same negative comments. I love it when a game turns the tables on that and is full of surprises.

Yes! We haven’t played it yet though. Been too busy with our Christmas games. I got my birthday off on the 10th so I’m planning to crack it open then. Happy new year to you mate.

This game presents a dilemma for me. It looks fantastic, the mechanics are easy to learn, there's real depth to the game, but the whole just does not quite reach the sum of its parts. That may be my own fault. A Stonemaier game that looks this stunning instantly makes me recall Scythe, but prettier! I am probably a victim of my own expectations. This is still, by any metric, a great game and a keeper for me, just not one I am gagging to play all the time.

We’ve played it a lot these last few weeks and it’s only just beginning to grow sort of stale. I think I alluded to the disconnect you mention in the review. I can definitely see that. Lucky that the expansion is due to drop this week 👍🏻

I think Scythe still wins on all counts including the eye candy factor. In fact, we're playing Scythe right now! But Tapestry is a great game. We just loaned it for friends to try. Itll be interesting to see what they think

I am not sure about the expansion. It seems a reasonable price (if you shop around here in the UK), but early comments appear to indicate that it is more of the same rather than an evolution of the game or resolving any issues people have experienced with the base game.
