Tapovan trek in snowfall | Uttarakhand

Gaumukh is the glacier from where river Ganga originates. Tapovan is 6 kms above Gaumukh. The trek is too adventures for trekkers and I will say its the most beautiful trek I have ever seen. You will snow cap mountains, river ganga and beautiful valley. The trek is inside Gangotri national park in Gangotri Uttarkashi Uttarakhand.
The total distance of the trek is 24 kms. While trekking we were welcomed by the first snowfall of the year. It is very thrilling and exciting trek you will be watching with all the detailed information.

I have seen your other videos as well and enjoyed them thoroughly. However, I must say that you were not carrying the appropriate gear/dress with you on this trek. I am a avid trekker and do high altitute 2-3 treks/ year. If you come to high altitute places from plains, it is extremely important to acclimatize. If you don't have time to acclimatize, then Tablet Diamox should be taken at least 24 hrs prior to trek to avoid Altitute Sickness. Some must important gear for High Altitute treks are 1. Good quality Trekking Shoes 2. Rain proof panchoo( not rain suits) 3. Dry fit Inners (these help a lot as it helps to evaporate the sweat and thus maintain Body heat. Same is the case with panchoo) 4.Down Jackets 5. At least 3 ltrs/day water 6. Good trekking bag with an option for hydration packs. These hydration packs are very useful as you can fill them with hot water and then tuck them inside the trekking bag. That way you will have access to warm water for Hrs. The hydration pack also encourages one to sip more water because of its ergonomic position and accessibility. All the Best.

Great video, well shot (even though you should have been more careful with your clothing and reduced the risks for your own sake). As a teenager of 16 (35 years ago I did the same trek and made it Gomukh and Tapovan. I was also ill equipped but it was summer time and snow was not really there. Met a Baba at gaumukh who made us coffee. Even GMVN was not there at Bhojwasa but the ashram where we slept on hay. Great experience

Don't mind but it seems you were not prepared for the trek. AMS at 3500m though not uncommon, it hardly happens to guys your age, seems you didn't physically prepared for the trek Your clothing was not at all suited for any Himalayan trek You seemed surprised by weather change meaning you didn't check forecast beforehand and there was no buffer day in case you wanted to try your luck next day. Next time plan b4 you trek, consult a trekker or go via established trekking companies. you wereffortunate ttorreturn without falling sick or experiencing any untoward incident. Better luck next time.

For rishikesh to gangotri , u can take public transport which will cost you around 500 to 700 ... for guide u have to pay 2k per day and food price are reasonable, hotel costs around 1000 to 2000 during non seasons in gangotri ... thanks for watching 😊
