@@oscarverwey It is always interesting to see what others have created. Your system works nicely, and produces a lot of clean gas. I have a few thousand hours of engine runtime on mine, as I have relied on it for all my power production, over the years. Even after all this time, it amazes me that we can run engines on wood :) .

@CNCmachiningisfun thats awesome i just subscribed . The biggest success i made was with replicating the 2 stage viking gasiffier that gives zero tar gas whitout filters no matter what quality woodchips i put in even at 30% Moisture it was clean en blue. Although it has quite a bit of white in it aswell, don't really know what that means but it looks good to me

Great explain but I found the filtration process a little too complex, but one other water filter using steel mesh at the bottom of the inlet pipe collected a lot of tar and then putting the gas through a carbon filter was good then as in compressors to dry the gas a water separator is used. I think that would remove most of the tar stopping it getting into the engine.
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey 2 ай бұрын
Great you like it . I don't believe using a compressor en extensive activated charcoal filtration is necessary anymore. As i came up with at least 3 ways to get almost zero tar from different kinds of gasiffiers. i only use a sand bed filter now for the water fog en nothing else there is no tar anymore . Feel free to check it out. Greetings
@brianhood4182

The only mention of a compressor was to show when you need dry air you use a water trap, and with the gas going through a water trap with the end of the pipe surrounded by fine stainless steel mesh. I hope this clears up my point.

No problem I hope it's of any help, sadly I put wet fuel in it so it made some tar in the gas but it makes a good comparison to the electric filter, also the secondary air nozzle inlet was clogged whit soot so it turns out it only had a single air input en relatively wet fuel 😆 still pretty good results, greetings

I want to inquire about an important question: Is it possible to extract hydrogen gas from gas wood? What are the practical methods for this?
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey 7 ай бұрын
There is no easy way, I wonder why would you want that? Wood gas is already practical , in the end there is a reason why we don't use pure hydration for powering stuff, the dilution gases that comes whit the wood gas makes it safe to handle en makes the engine not so prone to hydrogen imbritelment so I can run for a long time, de-rating is around 20 to 40% depending on certain Tunes en mods , whit 1.2/1.3bar Turbo pressure you can get back to gasoline power whit a higher conversion efficiency

I see what you mean its a interesting phenomenon, In a wood gasiffier, this happened by itself . You have hydrocarbons to make the heat you have moisture to make the steam so you can use al the charcoal for reduction. If you do it correctly you use the product gas en exhaust gas heat to do the fuel drying, air en steam superheating, torrefaction en pyrolysis so oxidation en reduction is a easy job to make tar free gas with high moisture wood , , Way more efficient than those charcoal gasiffiers

Is this using the wet electrostatic precipitator? Or is the one shown in this video dry? I thought I saw a video where you made a wet one because it did better than a dry on. Great work as always, lots to learn from you

This is the dry type. The wett type also worked great only the water was a problem to dispose of so I chosed to continue with the dry type that is better to clean en it can be used for fire starter

Im 🤔🤔 about your solar dryer .. and the 2 meters u have ..is it for humidity or temperature or..🤔 Wood chip drying ..
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey Ай бұрын
I use an old broken solar hot water en electric panal to make hot air en some electricity (20 watt electric max ). This is used to blow the hot air using 2 small fans in series through the barrel of woodchips by direct contact. En this heats en absorbs the moisture in the wood, I measure both the temperature en humidity at the inlet en outlet of the barrel, there is a temperature swich in the panal to swich the fan on en off , this makes a nice en maintenance free fuel dryer that does the job pretty quickly
@VANHAMM

@oscarverwey ok 👍 v good. Will be in my woodgas set up 1day to.. if you get some old blue crystal...poly crystal solar panels you can power up any DC motor as long as the watts and volts rating are close to the same on each .. The new monocell panels don't do it..💥👌

Note. Use Stirling engines in the cooling section/sections to generate the electricity to power the electrostatic filter...could provide even more power for other things....maybe. try it. Also. In the "test" area. Store any power in a battery or capacitor system for even more "free" power
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey 7 ай бұрын
Excellent idea, although the electric filter uses 6watt for every 1.5kw electric output Worth of gas from the piston engine
@melvance7281
@melvance7281 7 ай бұрын
@@oscarverwey "gas" um. Stirling engines do not use gas. They are heat engines. Heat difference is the only fuel used. Period. Now. I'll admit. They are far from efficient. But. Turning "waste" heat Into power.....makes sense to me
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey 7 ай бұрын
@@melvance7281 i mean to clean the amount of gas to generate 1.5kw electric the filter uses 6watt so a Stirling engine for using the heat is not that attractive so to speak, i found it very hard to make a Stirling engine en near impossible to make them delivered any significant amount of power
@melvance7281
@melvance7281 7 ай бұрын
@@oscarverwey so. Make several. You are trying to remove a LARGE amount of heat. Stirling engines can help deliver power while doing that. And. If built correctly. Can deliver power from the heat you are trying to get rid of. We are talking ALOT of heat. That equals a good amount of power that can be harvested
@oscarverwey
@oscarverwey 7 ай бұрын
@@melvance7281i agree Stirlings can do al that en are funny things , however there is a misinterpretation on my part,I don't want to get rit of a lot of heat only the micro druplets in the gas after Cooling, im reusing most heat for drying, torrefaction en pyrolizing the fuel so a low tar en even whit my new 2 stage gasifier zero tar gas is produced whit a minimum amount of added air, as far as heat dump goes only the last 60deg c ( 100deg Down to 40deg c) is rejected through the radiator or water heater , this video was juist to show the best en cheapest way i found to get zero tar gas whit any gasifier so pouple can replicate it en don't have problems whit there engines anymore
