I think it's rare to see compassion displayed like this because it's deemed unprofessional for a judge to cry at the bench. To say it's rare to see a compassionate judge is naive and unfair. It's rare for crimes like this not to affect all the professionals involved and many suffer greatly in silence.
@sangellaferro5 жыл бұрын
@@melissab4710 MOST people are brought up to believe that expressing sadness is weak, wrong, etc. We all laugh when something's funny ... why don't we (as easily) respond to our pain? It's truly a blight on our society. Crying is a natural physiological response. Tears of pain contain toxins; tears of happiness & joy do not!

There is only so much, even a good judge like this guy, can do. Bound by the law! So if we want that to change (like me) then we need to vote for people with those kinds of values. People that Share your values! And people that share different or similar value--they need to vote in that person for them.

Now I don’t cry myself when hearing of other’s suffering, that doesn’t mean I don’t feel their agony and the horror of the situation, I just don’t react physically because…that’s not how my body works, I suppose. But crying when presented with the intense suffering of other people is a common human characteristic, and one that shows empathy. Empathy is arguably the most important attribute for a judge to have, has how can you effectively asses how a person should be sentenced if you cannot understand the suffering caused and, simultaneously, how the defendant felt/is feeling. Crying for many people is just a result of emotion, and cannot be controlled. It’s not an intentional thing, it’s just a normal response when hearing and feeling the agony of someone else.

That's because God should have no say in a court of law. To quote Judge Judy Sheindlin, who once said this in her response to a defendant: "I don't care how the Word of God applies here. This is a courtroom, not a church, so don't preach to me." Our freedom of religion depends entirely on the separation between religion and the law, and a seperation of religion and politics. If you don't want to, say, be forced to live your life underneith a black polyester 3-layer Niqab, I suggest not applauding everytime a judge or politician brings up God.

@seagullseagullseagul I don't know the case personally. I just knew that he hid her body. It didn't say he killed her. He had a dirty secret and he shoulda said something. The McCullough guy was the one that killed her as far as I understood things. He just burned her body and hid it, which is just as bad to not fess up and tell what happened, but he didn't do the actual killing, and once she was gone, she was gone. He didn't have to burn her or hide her remains, but he did, and 25 years sounds firm enough to me!! Some people who tamper with a corpse don't get much time at all. He got what he deserved for not letting them know what had happened to her. Plus at that man's age 25 yrs is probably gonna be a life sentence. So what more do you want?
