I think youtube creators undervalue how much viewers enjoy the repetition of working with animals, it can be very soothing. As a creator it probably seems like "omg, same thing again, people are going to hate this" but that is not true. You don't need to have unique new content for each video, just let us voyeur your normal day. FYI, I do like the Q&A

We've just had our Lucerne cut'n baled. Only a smallish cut this time because we leased the paddock to the local potato baron for a season, so it was only reseeded in late September. It's just to cover our small herd of beefers during the pasture dormancies in summer and mid winter
@standdownrobots_ihaveoldgloryКүн бұрын
😂 I’m from a farm town & “local potato baron” is killing me!!! Reminds me of the farmers who were asked by Coors Brewing Co to grow barley…the new barley barons were so smug til Coors just passed on the whole county for the next round of contracts. (Our barley was just too flavorful for American domestic high volume production beer…lol or so we say)

As a fulltime carer, I am living my life through a few vloggers and you are one of them. I dream of the day I get my freedom back. As for content...a couple of things I'd be really interested in hearing about..... Do you and slug do any dog sports together such as sheep dog trials? How did you and liam meet? Anything about your flock is very interesting....what are your long term goals? If you werent born into farming, would you still have become a farmer? If you could do any other job (not farming) what would you do? Would you ever consider doing a live one day? Tip for you....when it comes to lambing again, I really think if you put a camera one the little bottle babies 24/7 you would get massive hits. We all love to watch baby animals.

As a viewer who is most definitely not a farmer... don't worry about what to say. I'm going to give you the advice I watched Sig Hanson give a new captain on Deadliest Catch, many years ago... something to the effect of: just tell the camera what you're doing, where you're going... explain why, show how, the reasoning behind it... you don't need to go into long detail, just provide a window, and you'll be alright. I'm not sure that's an exact quote... but you get the idea. Don't worry about dialogue... or how much of it there is. Your farm is gorgeous. I could watch silent drone-footage of the scenery, and/or Typo running sheep, all day... or for that matter any skilled individual doing a job well. Your videos are amazing, and you are top-notch. Keep up the great work, and don't worry about it... just be you... take care, my friend!

Hi Tara, the creep feeder and hay feeder are great pieces of equipment for feeding your sheep. You could always put a bandaid around your broken glasses like your grandfather might have done back in the day, or just some supa glue. The green glasses match your green hat / sun protection thingo. You now need some pink glasses to go with your pink thingo. Gee it's been hot and no rain. I getting sick of the weather being over 30 everyday. May you could organise a group from your town to do a nude rain dance in the dark. It might work. Ha Ha! Chris from Bendigo, Victoria.

"So ppl who are... good with your hands... Do I say it like that?" Yes, that's fine, lol. I remember the first time someone said that to me, it was in my fiber sculptor class in uni. I'm artsy but I never really got into, like sewing or crocheting or even fabric dying...but, not for lack of trying. It just seemed that almost everyone around me wanted me to learn some of those things...but they didn't really dedicate the time into Teaching me, so I got frustrated Anyways, I was working on s project and I just zoned out. I wasn't paying attention to the ppl around me, but I happened to notice my teacher stand right next to me; without pausing on my work, I looked up at her and blinked. She looked at me and said "wow... You're good with your hands" and it felt nice to hear that, bcuz I actually thought (or hand been convinced) that I wasn't doing well in her class. Which she then said "you would've been great in my other class (working on a loom) but, no one dropped out so I can't even transfer you over" It felt nice to hear that too, although that Is one of my regrets from my time there. I went to that school for the arts program, but, specifically, Because of the looms. I'd always wanted to work on one, and it sucked to be so close but I didn't get that chance, 😮💨 Still, some things can mean Just that: that a person's good with their hands. A lot of ppl try to be, but some make shit worse rather than better, 😅

Huh, that "shake it and if the leaves fall out" trick is how I test alfalfa hay for quality. If I can shake the hay and get a good amount of leaf out of it I know it's decent quality hay but if I shake it and get little to nothing, I know it's mostly stems.
