Shivananda was a Medical doctor in Mayanmar before going back to India, not unless we ate talking about two different Shivanandas.

Just say God's name, that will do it" does not cancel the "Read Gita, read Upanishads, and attain moksha", does it? Also, if we don't say God's name but mentally intone the mantra Soham with the breath, it works even better.

Ramakrishna used to say the same. Just say, chant, the name of God (any name, Rama, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Allah). But I have a little doubt, just the name alone... a full mantra is not needed? If I only chant Kali, Kali, Kali, would it be enough? Just like that? Just pointing out the last minute of the video.
