I learned stick to rifles. It's fascinating to watch but it is a lot of steps and process for a tool that is increasingly limited to sport or hunting. 2 gun is more realistic/applicable. 3 gun with a close and a long rifle and handgun would be more applicable.

You really don't. Look for the videos people have done with their Taran Tactical Benelli's. Basically you pay them 1500 bucks to keep your gun for a year or more. When you get it back, the only thing they've done well is laser their name all over it. Everything else is crappy workmanship and they turn a Benelli M4 one of the most reliable shotguns made, into a weapon that no longer cycles reliably. But hey at least the Taran Tactical logo looks nice branded on your gun.

For some tube fed shotgun you need to use your thumb to push the rounds all the way in the tube, right? So you need to modify your gun to perform a quad load?

Very few shotguns are open enough to allow fast quad loading from the factory. The Benelli 3 gun edition is the only one I can think of that looks open enough. The Breda, Benelli M2, Stoeger M3K, Mossberg JM Pro, Beretta 1301 Comp Pro all need work. Some of those are quad loadable if you don't mind going slow. Check around and you can find videos for doing the loading port mod yourself. I'm in the process of finishing my M3000.

Same as you would start with a child who wants to learn to shoot but is maybe afraid of the gun/recoil. You start with a smaller shotgun (higher gauge number is actually a smaller shotgun, even if that might seem counter-intuitive at first. A 12 gauge is *much* bigger than a 20 gauge.) I remember my Grandpa just getting me comfortable with the small 20 gauge shotgun first at the Skeet Range, at the easy houses where the claybird travels pretty much in front of you and not completely side-to-side (which is a lot harder to hit) and just slowly build confidence and work your way up from there. It definitely helps to have a personal teacher you're comfortable with, either a friend, relative or someone you've hired that you feel like you trust, to help you gain confidence with the gun and not be scared of it. It's a fine line between respecting the weapon (aka being careful, not being reckless, following the safety "laws" of gun handling, etc) and being literally scared of the weapon. Respect it, but don't let it intimidate you ;)
