I still have no idea how someone with arachnophobia can enjoy these videos and even find the various tarantula species quite beautiful, but i do.
@alespider99058 жыл бұрын
That's the trick. I was arachnophobic (still am to some extent) but fascinated by watching videos of tarantulas and I ended getting some myself. I think you should man up and get into the hobby too, lol. You won't be dissapointed, I swear.

It's the fur. My grandma hates spiders,and is grossed out by them,but she actually wanted to pet and hold my G.Porteri when I showed her.
@72resonate8 жыл бұрын
You dont have arachnophobia, thats why..
@oinkleberry8 жыл бұрын
Cause you aren't arachnophobic. What you are is a normal person who is scared shitless of the idea of a spider jumpscaring you. But that my friend is not a clinical phobia, that's a natural reaction to predator arthropods. You don't know where they are, and they can move quickly at anytime they want, so people are freaked out in general at them. But when you know exactly where they are and exactly when they are going to go in for a takedown, they aren't scary whatsoever.
@JaneSmith-rx6kx8 жыл бұрын
+The Reasonable Extremist maybe that's why confrontation with tarantulas work. They're in a enclosure and can't jump you :) I don't have a phobia so it's sometimes hard to understand folks who fear spiders,but I accept it that they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

The adult female OBT made me chuckle. She seemed to completely forget the idea of food when she casually walked to her hole, until the opportunity presented itself. Then it was a revelation of, "I almost forgot about that!" before running back hahah. Very cute mantis. They're very "personable" for insects. Always watching and observing, but very adorable nonetheless!

@TechieXP7 жыл бұрын
OMG...you saved the worse for last...OMG. That crunching sound of the fangs going to the cockroach. I had a bird eater and i fed it a cockroach and he later died. I dunno if it had a disease, but a few days the spider which was really fast moving and very aggressive, was moving slow and actually allowed me to pick it up, which is not normal. I was thinking maybe he was molting, but he never did. One day he would only move if I touch him. But again very slow. Then a couple days later he died. I have no idea why and it only happened after the cockroach. So now I don't use them as feeders. Only crickets, meal-worms or similar.

The mantis was funny. Took him a minute to notice, but you really see when he does notice it. The legs hunch in, ready to lunge for the attack. Also notice how it sways, that's an interesting feature of those insects. Their eyes are too close together for depth perception, so they sway side to side to get an idea of distance between them and their target.

Mantises are so cool! I love raising them. Feeding is the best part! You should give Charlotte a fuzzy mouse. I know they are not good for Ts but just as a treat. I think she would love it!
@JaneSmith-rx6kx8 жыл бұрын
In some countries ( like Germany) it's illegal to feed vertebrates to non vertebrates and it's dangerous for the T, the mouse could kill it.
@bugloverspiderlover84908 жыл бұрын
+Jane Smith why do people make these stupid laws against nature? I'll bet the fools behind these laws eat meat from living animals everyday,but they see a spider or centipede eating a mouse,they loose their minds and cry and bitch about it. I live in the US and they don't whine about that as much,and there are certainly not laws against feeding vertebrates to inverts. I understand a full grown mouse could injure or kill a T,and I would never put a full grown mouse with any of mine. But a pinky or a pup can't fight back or injure the spider. I gave my rose hair a live pinky once and she loved it. My Texas brown female likes skinks as a treat.
