Can we just...for a moment...Lea Salonga’s voice didn’t change across 23 YEARS.
@Dan-Black5 жыл бұрын
So the Snow White live recording was 35 years after the studio recording? That's pretty darn impressive! Wow, looks like they really directly modeled Cinderella's face and expressions after the singer. I've seen Jodi Benson in concert two or three times. She usually sounds better than that recording. And she absolutely loves singing "Colors of the Wind". (Disclaimer: It's probably been 15 years since I've seen her.) I agree on Paige O'Hara. I may have seen her in concert once, too; but the video here definitely sounds disappointing. I hope it was just an off day for her. Her performances on the studio recordings were always among my favorites. Lea Salonga is fantastic -- past, present, and surely future. She's a pro among pros. Absolutely spectacular. I _wish_ I could see her in concert! I agree Mandy Moore's recording is the epitome of Disney princesses. And Kristen Bell is just perfect for Anna -- beautiful voice and hilarious. Love Julie Fowlis's recording -- and that song! I like that acoustic version! Auli'i Cavalho is another perfect Disney princess voice -- the studio recording and live (no, I haven't seen her in person, just several videos of live performances). So amazing! I think since people like Jodi Benson started performing live after their Disney recordings, Disney's figured out they need to pick (and/or train) people who can deliver excellent performances live, too. I completely agree that the modern trends toward having women with huge vocal power is a great thing! Soft and delicate and gentle is still nice when they choose -- and some of them show that near the beginning of their signature songs -- but having all that power and control is so captivating and inspiring!
@valashar53134 жыл бұрын
They did model the animation on the vocalists in early Disney movies. They also had them act out scenes live to give the animators life model sources for their work.
@Dan-Black4 жыл бұрын
@@valashar5313 - I knew they did it in later films (like from TLM on -- have even seen videos from Disney about it*), but I hadn't seen any video of the voice actors from the older films. I didn't realize they were already modeling them after the voice actors on the earlier films, especially modeling them that closely. It makes sense, since it gives them a reference of what somebody really does look like when they're singing that song or speaking the other parts. * Disclaimer/side note: I realize some of the newer characters were modeled as sort of a composite of several people -- including the voice actors, but also other people. For example, Ariel was modeled not only after Jodi Benson, but also Sherri Stoner (I think she was the primary reference) and Alyssa Milano (obviously, at the age she was at the time).

Lea definitely still has the most clear, beautiful, and Disney perfect voice. Paige O'Hara was such a wonderful singer when she was younger but her voice definitely didn't age as well as some of the others. To be fair, 1991-2011is a long time while some of these are fairly recent so we're not seeing what 10+ years does to all of their voices. Auli'i's voice is gorgeous but that live clip is only a year or two after she originally sang for Moana.Great job as always Tara! Keep doing more Disney!
@npa6615 жыл бұрын
I'd like to hear Lea Salonga sing her third Disney princess song. The clarity of her crystal clear voice is awesome. You can understand every word that comes out of her mouth. She continues to sing "A Whole New World" and " Reflection" in her concerts & her voice only gets better.

Hi Tara, Usually when I see those "Live/Studio" or "Then/Now" videos, there's often arguments in the comments about whether the difference in singing is due to strain or age or something like that. But artists like Lea Salonga sound the same, despite a twenty year gap. Wondered if you might be able to talk about voice changes as a result of aging, and why some people appear to be affected and others not. Hugs, a Tarabyte.
