Jessie is really underrated as a singer. she has a great texture, technique and range and a very unique quality to her voice. she needs more exposure.

She's not underrated at all! Whenever it comes to vocal prowess, JJ is always up there. She might not be the most commercially successfully artist but I think very few doubt her singing talents
@easytosay98056 жыл бұрын
@@Darleer not what underrated means
@Darleer6 жыл бұрын
I can see your point but I posit that that is exactly what underrated mean in this context. The OP explicitly says she's underrated as a singer and I say she's not at all. Everyone I know rates her very highly in terms of her singing techniques. This Chinese singing show is extremely competitive and they have amazing singers. They really must value JJ ability a lot to invite her. So as a singer I don't think she's underrated at all. I also want her to be more famous than some other singers but maybe you're looking for a different word.
@flaviab53156 жыл бұрын
Darleer Even if Jessie be complimented for her vocal talent in many videos she's most remembered for her hits than a true singer it's why that I think she is underrated. Some artists should more be recognized for their talents.
@Darleer6 жыл бұрын
@Flavia I do see where you're coming from. My question then is, how would you qualify being recognized for their talents? For example, which artist(s) do you think is adequately recognized and how their cases differ from that of Jessie?
@Kaalyn_HOW6 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you knew this, but for this whole show (Singer), Jessie J was struggling very badly with her heart condition that she's had since she was a child. She was fainting, having bad palpitations, shaking uncontrollably, and more. She missed a lot of rehearsals, and even - at one point - flew back to the UK to see her personal doctor. They strongly advised her not to even fly back to China, but she did so as to not let anyone down. When she got there, she sang My Heart Will Go On -- without rehearsal. In all her subsequent performances, she continued to struggle with her heart but still killed every one, even better than this one. For this performance, she was already having a _lot_ of those issues and hadn'y seen her doctor yet. It is likely to blame for some of the odd breath placements that she wouldn't ordinarily do or need. Most likely, trying to "pace" for the marathon so that she wouldn't become more faint by the end of the performance. I hope that helps put this feat, and her stylistic choices, in even more perspective - as well as all of her other songs during this show.

Jessie J is an awesome vocal powerhouse. She's adjusts when she need to with everything she has for every performance that no one can tell she's working hard internally to deal with debilating difficult heart medical issues. I love Jessie J she is out of this world, and every time she performs I feel her out of body emotive love. Super awesome Jessie J is, that it does make it really difficult to witness those vocally critiquing her voice and performances.

She has lungs of steel...ridiculous breath control. I was surprised she breathed there too but yeah. She’s super underrated and needs to be given props. Please react to her reflection, my heart will go on, flashlight/earth song, or maybe all of them! The only criticism in her performance of I will always love you, is that toward the end she got a little pitchy which is unusual for her, but it was understandable cuz she was on the verge of crying and trying to hold raw emotion together isn’t easy. So glad she won the entire show! Long comment over lol
@rogerledoux47416 жыл бұрын
She was not pitchy in the least. By the way she took the breath in the same spot which means it was a style chose not a mistake.
@corazonbeso6 жыл бұрын
Roger Ledoux in ‘i will always love you’, she was pitchy. It’s rare but she was. I have perfect pitch. You can literally hear her change pitch in the song. Now in ‘I have nothing’, she was flawless pitch wise. And about the breath in the same place, I know it was a stylistic choice.
@wwaxwork6 жыл бұрын
She is fighting a genetic heart condition which effects her breathing (among many other things but it does effect her blood o2 levels). It is slowly getting worse and she did have to leave the show for a couple of weeks in the middle to go to london & get treatment from her specialists. The fact she can sing as well and as strongly as she does is amazing.

This is the second video of Jessie J I've seen (the first one was My Heart Will Go On) and I must say she is one of the most naturally (or maybe organically) expressive singers I've ever seen, not only in her voice (which is a beautiful powerhouse, of course) but the way she conducts herself on stage, her face expressions, her gestures - it's all so on point. Hi Tara! Thanks again for such a contructive reaction. I notice a lot of people in the comments are requesting My Heart Will Go On. This performance of hers was another great one but should you react to it, there is something I would like you to be aware of. During this entire competition, Jessie J was also battling with a medical condition that made her short of breath. In My Heart Will Go On specifically, she had just come back from the hospital. They weren't even sure she was well enough to perform but she went for it. I'll let you see the rest for yourself, but do keep in mind that she is not at full health, especially during My Heart Will Go On.
@summydots5 жыл бұрын
It’s amazing that even with the medical condition I never felt she was short of breath anywhere. I think here and in general, Jessie J makes a choice of taking a breath like it’s incorporated into her style of vocals, often not because she really needs to but as conscious choice. Like the vocal coach said she has many spontaneous ‘hail marys’ -the intense valleys & highs & the layering. Taking breaths when you don’t really need it gives you more control in what you wanna do when you wanna do. But she can do without it, if one were to focus on the breaths, it’s very in her comfort zone.

THIS IS MY GIRL. So much so I needed to make the statement ALL CAPS. She gave me tearful chills all through my body, I cry every time I listen to Ms. Jessica Cornish. She doesn’t need to the breathing as you mention, it’s so true but she’s got a soulful background as well as an R&B/Pop style so she may have defaulted into a bit of a modern way of doing it. If she can go straight into it if she does it again, then it will be 110% because for me it was already 💯% btw, I’d love to hear more of you! I’ve just stumbled upon your videos tonight, and I’ve been watching the prior ones you react to Beyoncé another face of mine as well, and your voice...you betta! I’m a singer myself nothing professional, lifelong passion of mine and I’ve always been held back by my nerves and lack of confidence. I’m trying to work on my diaphragmatic breathing...so I’d love to know the clarification of what you mean when you say “chesty” and “head” singing. In my book I’ve always been taught that’s not a good thing, for it puts strain on the vocals.

I find funny how some “vocal coaches” always disregard the lower part of the songs, and only call good singing on high notes. Best rendition of this song ever produced. In fact, ONLY great rendition.
