I love how you dote on Whitney’s lower register. People think for some reason her lower register was “weak” but Whitney lower register was fully supported and severely underrated. The way she had that amazing vibrato in her lower register was phenomenal. Her vibrato was amazing throughout her entire range from lower register to head voice. I remember seeing this that night. My parents had surround sound on our television and we heard every single note she sang--loud and clear. We all stood up and applauded like the audience was doing. Ms Whitney is the greatest vocalist of all time, in her prime she was untouchable.

When someone is a master of her instrument, she can do anything with it. Just like a pianist who can play Bach and rock. She could sing anything. I’ll always be in awe of her talent.
@whitneyhoustonstan24722 ай бұрын
Those three note runs are so subtle and undetectable that when you actually do them you realize the masterclass of a vocalist she was. Sneaking in those runs right after a high belt… she is not to be underestimated!

I think a great thing to point out in regards to live performance is making sure you can hear yourself. If you notice a few seconds after the little slip up, she subtly cues for more of her in her monitor. I’ve learned that not being able to hear yourself can throw off even the most gifted of singers, which is what we saw here. So make sure you get your levels right in sound check and don’t be afraid to get the sound engineer on it.

I can promise that you won’t regret it. Keep up the good work, it puts an entirely different spin on reaction video’s when people, such as yourself, that actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to singing, try & help us everyday folk understand what the singer is doing & how they make it sound as they do, thankyou Tara.

I know this is a lot of Whitney, although I did rank in the top 0.03% worldwide in Spotify for Whitney listeners last year so you could arguably say it's never enough Whitney for me, but it would be great if you could review and react to a performance of this song that's, shall we say, non-great. By that I don't mean from like the 2000s, cuz that would be straight up demeaning to her, but I think the 1996 Brunei performance is a good example of how she would find ways to still manage to get through a hard song like this one even though under conditions that were far from ideal. She recorded I Have Nothing when she was 28 and at the peak of her powers. While that Brunei concert was only 5 years later, in that time she had her daughter, and she'd also delved more heavily into vices, having developed a habit of smoking as well as having a cocaine overdose, which no doubt contributed to at least two miscarriages. While she could of course still sound beautiful and rich like in this 1993 performance, all of those changes in her lifestyle were obviously noticeable in her voice and I think the contrast between the two performances can be interesting to observe from a technical point of view, as it can shine a light on how to use your voice when things aren't going great and it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year, if you will 😂

I was checking through your list of reacts and all are either has-beens or dead people. I am not surprised on how many people live in the past and not able to move into the future. Back in the day I used to listen to these people and bands but I evolved and moved on too present day talents who are as good or better and releasing new music. So this band is first off an all female band. The singer Asami comes from a R&B and soul music background and can carry a note better then most I have seen. This song she shows her talent.
