When Dimash premiered this song at his concert he gave a speech prior to singing the song. I think that speech is important and gives context to the song and story: "Many thanks dear friends, before I perform the next song, let me say a few words. Thank you very much. We, the people sitting in this stadium, each of us is different, not totally alike one another, but we are all God's children, each of us with different talents. And, as I mentioned just now, right now is a bad time. In fact, I am not satisfied with the present situation. I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next. But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true. We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children, we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children. They are pure-hearted, kind, friendly, untainted and without egos and their love for people are pure. Young children have such qualities. I started writing this song I'm about to perform, three years ago. Generally speaking, my main purpose in writing this work is to call for peace in the world. It's a small composition that has burst out from deep within my heart. To tell you truth, many thanks to god and with your wishes I traveled to many parts of the world and met many different people during my tours. One thing I understood is that if you look at ordinary people, there is no such thing as a bad nationality, there is no bad nationality! I don't need to tell you what you already know about the reason for mentioning the topic of nationality here... Let there be peace in the world, Let there be peace. Let there be no war. Let no people, let no nationality, let no country suffer! Because after all, ordinary individuals, ordinary people are not at fault. The truth of the matter is, no nordinary person is guilty of starting a war! These are my views on this amazing masterpiece The Story of One Sky - I have watched this many times and still find things out that i never thought of amazing video and i have said it before if anyone could bring peace i strongly believe Dimash could make it possible. This needs to be shared worldwide to show people there is another way. War is never the answer because the only ones to suffer are the innocent. Rewatched the song of Dimash today one line stood out to me One of the most profound lines in The Story of One Sky is the line "Learn to share the love, Not shares" Not shares meaning stop making money out of war rich people have many shares in companies that profit from weapon manufacturing making them richer while the innocent suffer sadly this is why war exists. MONEY, GREED and POWER. The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash's family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end!!! The Dimash at the end can also be seen as Dimash in the afterlife leading others to the light in peace. This video needs to be shown worldwide. Something else i noticed is in his dying breath he sang (We're Choosing Life) as he finally passed away now that is powerful

Dear Tara, thank you for a wonderful reaction. Do yourself a favor and watch the live version of this song, as performed in Almaty 2 weeks ago… pure vocals and pure emotion. A little explanation which might help understand; the pilgrims represent all the faiths, Muslim Koran, Christian cross, Jewish shofar etc, all walking towards a same goal. At the end of the OMs (after Arabic vocalisation), Dimash says something in Kazak that means “We are all pilgrims on the same road”. The softness of his voice during the battles describes an agony that he feels inside about all this violence. Yes, he married that girl on the beach, and has a daughter by her, who is killed by the troops of the one who used to be his friend. But she is pregnant and hidden away by other people while she is giving birth to his son, who will be a peaceful leader. A little tricky to understand all this the first time, but the more you watch, the more details you will get. And that voice!!! Dimash is the little boy who was drowning. The boy who saved him became the military leader and the woman giving birth was the little girl who became Dimash’s wife and that was their daughter who was killed. Agree with your last message. Artist have a role in educating masses along with entertaining them…. They can participate in saving people from emotional alienation. We don’t run away from hardships and sometimes sacrifices aren’t wasted if there’s truth and a good cause that drives them. I think Dimash has been heartbroken by what is going on between Russia and Ukraine. He’s got strong bonds with the two countries. And he believes it’s his responsibility (as a global artist) to make people aware about the devastation of wars. He did the same thing with the song “war and peace “. Like Michael Jackson in his time, Dimash wants to use his art to serve a good cause.

Tara, I know how much you love Dimash but I was astonished you probably don't even have 1/3 of his content in your reactions, cmon you have to really cover him completely, he may never be big time main stream but I agree he is the best in known history and it's been my opinion for years he will be more famous past life than in life, he will be known like Chopin, Bethhovan, Mozart and such, future students will be taught by referencing him teachers that just get what he has brought to music, he will be what Devinci, Picasso, Rembrandt, and Monet are to art, to music. Honestly he really is too good to lower himself to the mediocracy of what music is today for the most part. I hope you might consider doing a complete portfolio of him, I believe it is worth it ❤

In his music, his actions and even answering questions you see him really think. It is never just about him. He considers deeply everything he does. Such a gem.

In the beginning the kid drowning was Dimash. The other boy saved him. But they fell in love with the same girl. Girl refused the boy who saved Dimash. Little Dimash there found a necklace to give him but he didn’t want to take it but gave him anyway. Then he put same necklace to the girl on the boat. When they grew up, the hatred and jealousy got bigger on that boy who became the commander. He destroyed all Dimash’s family in a war including her little daughter. When they tried to escape the girl left behind with a teddy bear on her hands. But his wife was also pregnant at that time as well. The people who believed in that kid she is going to give a birth put her in a secure place to give birth to the son of Dimash as well. They have faith in that newborn. They were praying during the birth. Then Dimash realised that his daughter died, he wanted to get revenge. He killed the commander and the commander’s army killed him too. Then the boy was drowning in the beginning was drowning again. But saying we are choosing life in spite of couple of the crazy commander who make wrong decisions and make people die. Instead we are choosing follow the light and turn from wrong to right. Because we all believe in the same God we are all God’s children and we live under one sky. All vocal things he did in dessert scenes was about all the religions and their praying related. He included all Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism. He believes that no one in the world have no problem with each other. There are no bad nations, no bad religions, there is no holy book in the world advices to do bad things. Some crazy people do this only. At the end the son of Dimash grown up but his wife died while giving a birth. And young man looks like Dimash leads the people to the light to the right way. No hatred, no revenge, no repeating the mistakes of previous generations. Only peace and acceptance of all people no matter what nation or religion they belong to. My personal opinion to make such a movie like that requires too much knowledge, wisdom, maturity and Dimash has it all. I don’t even wanna mention musicality here because he has doesn’t have to proof his musical ability or voice to us. He is making a statement here. He shows something. He teaches us something. And he says we need to learn from children they just purely love with no expectation.

War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. Story: (Requiem means: Funeral, Funeral Mass, Funeral Service) The clip is divided into several parts. The first one is about childhood. While fighting, he is confused, he is in shock, but he has to save his family - his pregnant wife (the very girl from his childhood) and his daughter. By uniting, they create a common energy in which the protagonist’s son is born, as Hope and Faith for the Better. Their journey is a symbol of faith in general, because it always goes through trials. When we go to the truth, we go through certain lessons and our way to God is difficult, but only possible if we come together. This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children.

wow, just wow. so much emotion poured into that scene, you got the rage, sadness, and then hope. At that time that one soldier (played by dimash) have the chance to confront his enemy, the source of his rage and his sadness, he was given a choice to forgive or succumb on revenge and he choosed the later then got shot, then the baby was born at the same time on the video, it's like telling us that if you took a life it will also take yours with it, and for a life that was lost a new one will be born so there's always a hope. My opinion's that the video clip's telling us how foolish war in the name of unity and the irony of it must happened to get a peace, to set aside the differences and lives with our "enemies" in the same sky, the army man (the dictator) said: “Only war will lead us to peace. Only the strongest can find love in their hearts. You must be strong enough to give the world freedom. A world where every city, every home is one. Thanks for your reaction! This is a tricky video because there is so much to take in at once. It's hard to know where to focus! I watched it 3 times and still didn't understand it so I got some help from the other Dears.There is some good info out there. So much symbolism that I didn't notice. Yes! I also love that Dimash takes the time to write music that is both beautiful and meaningful. He worked on this music and video for three years! You know I respect your readings of Dimashs' songs... First off: always start his videos from the very beginning, this one more so than others. Now: congratulations, you had missed almost everything, but did some analyses of the vocals. That's not enough in this case. Dimash had spent three years creating this masterpiece, and if you knew that it will be longer than 13 minutes - you should've gotten ready. This piece cannot be reacted to separately; it's connected, interconnected from the first second to the last. If you paying attention to the comments, I would ask you to employ this best - in my opinion - reading of Dimash' masterpiece by a youtuber. After that, listen to it again and probably again and again to finally understand the whole video. After all, the cost of making it was seven million dollars, but it doesn't cost you a penny. Good luck. You did well, my friend. It's impossible to understand the whole video at one try. I'm sending you the best and most detailed - in my opinion - reading of this masterpiece written by a youtuber. Read it, then watch the video again - you'll see it with a completely different pair of eyes. “This is subtitled “Requiem”, but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the music teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14 at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together”, signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke (and received a medal from Pope Francis for his contributions to the World of Peace) with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I’ll only touch on some of what struck me. 1 The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial, while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. In the Music Video, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through, as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers. 2 Contemporary music is also present: with the phrase “We have passed the moment of Imagine”, Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. 3 The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. 4 The Piper’s Call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let’s remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? 5 The burning sign “Waldenburg” is a reference to the end of WWII, when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht to end the war in April of 1945. Many of the dead were women and children, because all men ages 15 through 75 were mobilized. So, the good guys defeated evil, but at what price? 6 The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and life are both sacraments and are interwoven. Dimash’s vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that struck the pilgrims sharply. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the “sacred womb” of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war by choosing life. Dimash’s scream “We’re choosing life” is that of giving life: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as examplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God’s mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right. Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash’s character becomes a guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Dimash is showing us how. Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” This is what Dimash has done with this work: he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time.” We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. This is Dimash’s message to those in power. He urges them to follow their hearts. He tells them that nothing that exists is, or could ever be, outside of God. We are never outside of God - and never without God within us.

Первое исполнение этой песни состоялось на концерте в честь открытия VII Съезда лидеров мировых и традиционных религий в Астане 14 сентября этого года в присутствии Папы Римского Франциска и других духовных лидеров мира. Второй раз Димаш спел эту песню в Алматы 🇰🇿 23 сентября на своем сольном концерте, для более чем 30 тысяч зрителей из 70 стран мира. А премьера клипа состоялась 24 сентября на встрече Димаша с фанатами в Almaty Arena.

Tara, it's normal to feel confused, and all over the place and an emotional mess, and shocked at his voice, and all that. One watch is not enough. The video is complex and so interpretable (I'm still confused and in disagreement with a few elements of this video, but the core idea is so important and so necessary to be reminded to the world again and again). And then the voice and the composition are to die for. After you let it sink in, try to look at all these aspects together, and then how the blend and connect. It is emotionally draining though, and I take a few-days breaks for this work of his, now that I fully let it sink in, or go for the audio version only most often.
