First of all, THANK YOU for using a baritone range for this exercise. All of the male mixing tutorials I’ve ever found are by tenors, so it’s hard to know what mixing is supposed to sound like when we basses start to transition to falsetto at a lower range than them. I feel so much more informed now!

I wish I had teachers like this when I was going through puberty. I got Homer Simpsoned. I went from singing crazy high notes and being able to feel it when I was matching head, chest, and mixed voice, to having a very low baritone and breaking trying to do anytyhing. The people I was looking to for guidance weren't singers or vocally trained so they just wrote me off as being tone deaf because I couldn't just instinctually sing the same way I could before I was went through puberty.

Holy.. shiz.. for more than 1 year researching about mix voice, this is the one that I feel that I hit the gold... My main problem is chest dragging up to a very tensed chest that sounds like a dying animal... But now, when you said that you have to mix earlier, it hit me.. now I'm on the road on developing my mix 😍 thank you very much!

It's very important to have a balanced mix as well. Because many singers have a Chesty Mix. Or a Heady Mix... OR people use a Masked Head Voice. People like Sohyang have a balanced mix which sounds to me a lot more pleasant for my ears. So making sure you have a balanced mix is also very important. Heady Mix allows you to hit higher notes but may lose some depth from Chest Voice.

I didn't understand mix at all for a long time. Tried to force it, feel it, change the voice etc to no avail. Until I randomly one evening just got it out of the blue. Now I use it all the time when singing for myself. I feel it in the middle of my head close to my ears, and because of that it really sounds very loud and sharp inside my head. I haven't recorded myself to try and listen if that sound resonates outward or are just so loud inside my head yet though, but I automatically gradually add more and more mix from lower notes anyway so maybe it's not so bad. It's understandable that many have a hard time finding the mix. Anyway, great video!

Can you explain, is mixing suppose to be within ur range before switching to head voice?
@pinesyeet
@pinesyeet 3 жыл бұрын
@@kaifoong0722 What I've found is that it's hard to just enter mix out of nothing, so what I do is try to keep the tone of my chest voice when going higher than my chest range. Try this: Go to the top of your chest range, then loosen up while holding kind of the pressure for the tone you want. For me the tone is sharp but feels looser than the compressed very top chest range. Note: it's easy to fall out of the mix at first, so practice makes perfect. Tip: Try singing a song thats not too fast and lies on the top of your chest range and try to smoothly loosen up so that you're able to go higher while keeping most of the tone. So answer your question: Being in chest and slowly start to mix from there is what I've found works best for me.

Using the "one" exercise, I actually go into my mix/head voice at A3 which is contrary to the popular E4/F4. It's almost like the primary passaggio for tenors is much lower that it's said to be. My mix/head voice starts picking up power on the E4 with full power on G4 but if I wait to switch then it's too late. And when I switch earlier(A3) I don't notice my secondary passaggio(G#4) anymore, I pretty much have one voice from there till the end of my mix/head voice. For perspective, (I think) I'm a leggero tenor since my voice is on the brighter side and I can sustain a clear full voice resonance up to E5.

Can you make your chest voice range bigger? cuz for me I can go high but only in head and falsetto, and also pretty low, but my range in chest voice is just not what I want it to be...

I'm a singer , and I still don't get or now what mix is and sounds like but what I tend to do is when getting to the higher notes is to sing them softer and then sing them louder in head voice ...I don't think that's really right , though 😅

If you haven't yet, I'd love to see your reaction to "Blind and Frozen" by Beast in Black. The lead vocalist is jaw-dropping in my uneducated opinion! And overall it's just a really catchy song.
