They *are* actual statues in some scenes, but in the scene in the episode where the Angels have to move like they're people, obviously actors in costume were needed

In 2015 I was able to go to The Doctor Who Experience, and they took us all on a tour of the TARDIS set afterward. I stood at the top of the stairs and though "I could be on this show!" Then I immediately slipped and fell down the stairs. 😂 Our tour guide also worked as a PA on the show and she came up to me and said "Don't worry, Matt Smith did that all the time". ☺️

It's okay. My guess is that they're, simply,, Rose-Ringed Parakeets. Completely harmless, but - until 20 years ago - considered exotic, until a bunch of them escaped from somewhere and bred. They're, now, so numerous that they fly over my Aunt's house to roost every night...

This is one of the things that distinguishes the New Who era from the Classic one: at 7:31, the Doctor mucking in on the soccer pitch-getting involved in his companions' day-to-day lives: playing soccer, busting out of the cake at a stag party, working as a shop clerk. Just try to imagine any of Doctors #1 through #6 (well, okay, *maybe* #7) doing this sort of thing. It makes him/her less of a mythic figure and more of a relatable, human character. I like it.
