I've got an idea for a story. It's called the ghost train of Lancefield - based on AmtrakGuy365's story about a ghost train at St Louis Canada. Have you heard of a village in the centre of the state of Victoria, Australia? In any case, you have now. After World War 2, many Australian railways became irrelevant when roads got better and became either closed, ripped up or both. Furthermore, planes got better, sealing many lines' doom. Nonetheless, in the good old days, there were more functional branch lines and the Lancefield line was one of those. It operated between 1889 and 1956 even though it never paid for itself and surely the money would've been better spent extending the Redesdale line to Echuca to provide a more direct route between said city and Melbourne. Anyway, during the Pacific War, something very dark happened. A train of loaded fuel tankers arrived at the station from the Big Smoke. The yard was full though. That's why the engine had to reverse to Romsey and push the train, leaving it in a dangerous position on the branch. That night, an empty troop train was en route to Lancefield, but this train's crew couldn't see the danger ahead. This train rammed into the oil tankers, causing a massive explosion and killing the crew. The Lancefield line closed roughly a decade later. You decide how much is truth and fiction. But nevertheless, many locals in Lancefield may tell you every night they can hear the hissing sounds of a steam engine from the old station's environs - yet it never reaches its destination and some would say the Old Lancefield station which is now a B&B is haunted.

I like how we get airplane ghost stories and pay less attention to the railway.

The plane disaster has some similarities and differences to the Tenerife Airport disaster in 1977.

Great story. TFC's last words about 1205 and 686 seem to strangely echo Shunter Productions' story "The Banker".

well I did write it that way as a tribute to him for it was his stories that motivated and inspired me to do my stories and to this day I say that with the respect to him.

@@Kanefan701I hope that somebody makes an adaptation of "Ghost Planes" as well. I love aircraft just as much as locomotives.

I'm not sure that Sodor would be served by American Airlines; I suspect Loganair and the likes of Ryanair and Easyjet would be more appropriate, similar to the Isle of Man.
@TARDIS92 жыл бұрын
Ah, but then again a foreign company like American Airlines would outline how people come from far and wide - literally - to come and see the engines of Sodor. That, and as Thomas is big in both the UK and the US, it seems only fitting to make some reference to the franchise’s popularity overseas. Also, when was the last time Ryanair and EasyJet flew to America?
