The second story in this year's collection of Tales of Terror!
Inspired by the TV series episode 'Something In The Air'.
The follow-up to 2021's 'Shipwreck Saviour'. Following the storm, the coastal run is being repaired. Henry wishes he could travel along it, so that his journeys won't be so late. He even goes so far as to ignore the tale told by Thomas of a less fortunate soul than he, and travels down the line himself... but danger awaits...

You would think that Henry's incident on the Coastal Run would have prompted him to take heed of Thomas's warnings to take care along it. The engine really has a lot of nerve.

I love how Henry is getting blamed for the Signalman's incompetence. Seriously, if you want a job on the NWR, apply for Signalman's, they never seem to get blamed..

Be a signalman, do most of your job, then weight for either a train with riled up trucks or an idiot engine to approach, and then just clock out for the day and do nothing.

Exactly. The signalman, who accidently diverted Henry, should have admitted to Sir Topham Hatt and confessed that it was his fault and be suspended with pay for a year and then Sir Topham Hatt kindly told Henry that the accident wasn't his fault and give Henry repairs and then have him pull the express to recover from his ordeal with his encounter with the LNER Gresley Class A1's spirit who will then move on.
