That whole neighborhood looks cheap. What did they do about the foundation? Is the water heater sitting in the back yard?

I know the area where they did this project. The area is quite expensive, I think they did a good job on remodeling. The pricing is normal for the area.

This is a $650k house in my CA city, but we also have one of the best school districts. You can send your kid to school hungry and unprepared and they’re pretty much guaranteed to go to the university nearby. Our grade teachers make 90k because of pricey homes. There’s always a trade off. Except for LA, SF, and NYC that are just Shitholes.

I would like to see HGTV give more attention to hazardous materials / asbestos inspections and remediations. How could the obvious asbestos tiles and mastic not cost them thousands in remediation by a licensed professional?

It sounds like they’re trying to convince themselves they did a good job. The house was a hot mess and they did fix it up... However, I don’t see anything at all, “spectacular” about that house!

exactly, and this is what I don't like about Tarek is that he will go the cheap route when it typically leads to it looking underwhelming. Like in this video, why couldn't he just use grass for the front lawn? That gravel or whatever it is didn't look right. Overall, I feel like Tarek needs to just take Christians' advice because she's better with design
@theresekatie4841
@theresekatie4841 2 жыл бұрын
@@aprilsnow2296 she suggested the gravel.i like rocks. They eradicate lawn mowing. My whole side is rocks with the odd plant and the whole yard is plants and trees with bark. $86 a year for bark beats mowing grass every two weeks.

Hopefully the foundation issue has nothing to do with the soil, otherwise the current owners will have same problem somewhere down the line. He should have listened to Christine and passed on this, money is not everything. I pray the fix is permanent.

Judging from the high tension electric wires, this House is near 190th street, Torrance/ Redondo Beach border. 500K is a good price for this area, let the buyers do the addition.

Many houses in Torrance and the South Bay have cracks, used to live there. Small Earthquakes and poor soil prep do their thing over time. Hot water tanks are typically placed outside, with the water softener tanks. Could be big penalties for outright demolishing the house in any coastal area. In South San Pedro, and Portuguese Bend, entire neighborhoods have cracked up and slid downhill.

@marieslabbert6009
@marieslabbert6009 Ай бұрын
They NEVER patch things up. They always repair it properly. Judging from all their other videos with foundation problems, they would have had an engineer come in and put in steel supports down to the bedrock to lift and support the house. That is why they spent $25k more than what they planned for.

$300k max purchase price, he says, and not a penny more. Gets it for $315k. Tarek's ego gets the best of his common sense. I'd offer land value only, since this house was inliveable and not only in need of tremendous repairs, but because it was just butt ugly.

This house is ugly. If the neighborhood commands high prices, why did they use basic materials? This must have been an early episode, before Christina started thinking she was an interior designer.
@comealongcomealong4480

@ Drew Conway. Likely this one was purchased as an investment for rental. I can't see many resident owners wanting such a small home. Just the one bathroom with a tub shower, cramped kitchen with laundry, all sitting on such a large block of land. I've never seen this couple add an extension or build out. I imagine because of the time and cost delays to get all the approvals and compliance lined up. They said at the start "this is Torrance" but delivered a poor flip, apart from solving that major footings problem.
