What a gem! This is perhaps the greatest narrated video from one of the greatest driving talents in the history of the automobile. I feel honored to have had a chance to meet Vic Elford before his passing in 2022. A true gentleman, his legacy will live on thanks to his generosity in sharing his knowledge and experiences in many publications and mementos donated to those who share his passion for Motorsports history. The Targa and Vic- Thank you for sharing this amazing video!👍

Haha this is great! Vic Elford enjoying himself. When i saw old Targa Florio footage a long time ago, at first thought he was an Italian. He was driving an Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 then.

Fantastic video and story! And what a pleasant person Vic Elford ( Quick Vic) was. At the end of the video Vic is not quite sure when these pits were build and neither am i... But... you can determine from the banners in the old photographs that those pits were there already in 1929 and probably quite a while before that too. For those who, just like me, like statistics along with the old photographs, here's something for you: at 1.08,24 we see a picture from the 20th Targa Florio taken on 5th of May 1929. This race was held on the Circuito Madonie and was won by Albert DIVO, driving ALONE in a Bugatti type 35C. He completed the 540kms in 7h15m. At 1.08,26 we see a picture of the 21st Targa Florio, held on 4th of May 1930. Won by Achille VARZI driving ALONE in an Alfa Romeo P2 under nr. 30. He completed the Circuito Madonie 540kms in 6h55m, an average speed of 78,01 km/h. The next picture at 1.08,34 shows us the 22nd Targa Florio held on 10th of May 1931, and this time it comprised 4 laps of the Grande Circuito, 584kms in total. This edition was won by the famous Tazio Nuvolari driving an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 under nr. 14. He won the race in 9h27m at an average speed of 'just' 64,83 km/h. The reason for that lower average is probably the more demanding and twistier roads on the Grande Circuito? All the best and cheers from Czech Republic.

What a video, just listening to all those stories while watching him driving is calm and fun.

34:50 Hearing him tell stories while driving is awesome, but Vic's complete disregard for the folks directing traffic was a bit scary.

I wonder if that was intentional or if he just didn’t properly recognized what was going on because he was sunken into that conversation.

But he mentioned that was for those participated in the event only? 46:47 The guy in front also used the wrong side like him.
