Hi I enjoyed your video. I like the way you explain things compared to so many other KZbinrs out there that use a typical young persons slang. You make it very clear what you’re doing. Thank you

Just stumbled across your Channel I really enjoy the fishing videos how you represent Maryland I've lived in Maryland for close to 60 years now. I'm proud of our state and the way you represent Md. I got skunked at Assateague just passed Sunday and we went for a couple hours was throwing some Kastmasters out it was very windy and choppy and I had a lightweight kastmaster didn't do well. Ken

Thanks Ken! I really appreciate you watching. Assateague is my favorite spot to fish, hopefully you can get back out soon when the wind dies down.

Great fish I have a question I don't have a four wheeler drive vehicle I normally go to the end of the Rd where everyone goes swimming seems like the water there is really shallow is there a better place to go for the fall run?
@ReelJayB2 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much it. Most who don't have a 4x4 will fish on the state side of the park. Some will venture out near the OSV side and walk on the beach from there.

What was the date you were fishing. What do you think the most productive month is
@ReelJayB2 жыл бұрын
I think this was April. They only hang around for a few weeks, April is definitely the month to try. April/May. The redfish are around now.

What website do u check to keep up on the black drum to see when they are running?
@ReelJayB8 ай бұрын
I have a calendar on my website, www.reeljayb.com that shows the months fish are here. For migratory fish like drum, I just monitor local facebook groups/friends pages and when I see them being caught, I hurry and get out there.

How far past the breakers do you cast out for this place ? I'm heading up there tomorrow and was looking for an idea before I head out
@ReelJayB2 жыл бұрын
On that day I was casting between the breakers. When the waves break, that tells you where the top of the sandbar is. I try to put my bait either before the wave forms or after the wave breaks, but never on top of the bar.

Will a 9 foot rod work? Have a penn battle 2.
@ReelJayB Жыл бұрын
9' or 10' is perfect. I use 1 of each. I think the drum I caught was on the 9'.

That was a beautiful fish, 30 in. but how much did it weigh?
@ReelJayB Жыл бұрын
Thanks Diane! My guess is probably around 15 to 20 pounds. It was a fat fish!

@@ReelJayB , yes it was! A beautiful fish and wrestling it in had you all out of breath 😃 Watching you catch that had me so excited, I was saying " Please stay on" , that water was so wild. Happy you had a good day.😃

Just curious what kind of fish that was and why release vs eat?
@ReelJayB5 ай бұрын
Black drum....mild white meat. Drum tend to have worms when they are bigger in size, so I release them.

Thank you. I’m going to take my son surfing fishing in Ocracoke this summer. It will be our first time, is there a good resource that is dependable to make decision on what to keep and what to put back?
@ReelJayB5 ай бұрын
@@rickhankey7321 I don't know of any resources, maybe check their fish and game website so see what can be caught there? From there you can look up the fish to see the regs and what to eat

Hey Jay! Always appreciate your video’s! Do they require you to have any kind of tools/rope etc to drive on the beach? As if, you’d get stuck, items to get yourself unstuck? Thank for any info
@DukeFame882 жыл бұрын
You'll need your basic recovery gear, tow rope, jack and shovel. The park ranger will check to see if you have the gear on occasion.
@ReelJayB2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they do. Here is the link to the NPS OSV website, www.nps.gov/asis/planyourvisit/osv.htm it has the required equipment listed on it.

Nope. It's a head mount, so sometimes it's hard to make sure it's adjusted right.
@veez74672 ай бұрын
Fishing with crab for black drum is a waste of bait. Sand fleas are the way to go.
@ReelJayB2 ай бұрын
Maybe so, but they definitely liked the crab better than day. I caught smaller ones using green crabs as well and they took those more than sandfleas.
