Back in the day they used to use common traps all of the bathrooms on one floor would go to one area and it would have a trap and that would keep the gases from coming back. That’s what I really really old plumber told me.

Thank you Creature Features. First time I've seen this film. It was fun. The robot in this movie looked like a Halloween costume I made from a box, vent ducting hose, and silver paint, when I was 7 or 8 years old, back in the 60's. I love these old movies with cheesy robot effects. "Devil Girl From Mars" is another fun flick, with another cheesy robot, and like this movie was made in 1954. Brings back memories.

I was born in 1955. I remember having to stay home with the measles in the early 1960s and it was science fiction week on the TV on the afternoon movie hours and this came on target earth. It scared me to death. I had nightmares now that I watch it again, it’s hard to believe I had that type of reaction to it. But the whole time I thought the movie was great very exciting and sparked my imagination in the scary futuristic invading earth kind of way. Peace.

@michaellovelace38447 ай бұрын
As a child of the 60's, I watched a great many of these films on TV. I preferred movies like this to bigger budget films like War of the Worlds. I didn't realize it at the time, but the isolation of the main characters made the movie scarier. In an abandoned city like this one, on a remote island, deep in the jungle. Those settings are kind of creepy by themselves, you don't have to add much to make it really scary. I also realize now that it helped keep the budget down but thank goodness it brought us films like The Day the World Ended and The Killer Shrews.

I don't know if they were the first but WGN Channel 9 in Chicago had a film segment of Horror Films,mostly Universal 30s releases called "Creature Features" with voice over by announcer Marty McNeely and a theme song"Experiment in Terror" by Henry Mancini. Just a little FYI.This ran in the 1970s on a Saturday night.

I believe that your caller, Edith, made a mistake about the original 'The Time Machine' (1960). That movie is a science fiction classic and an excellent choice if you can get it. It starred Rod Taylor and Alan Young. She may have simply confused Pat Boone with one of those two or she may be referring to a different movie. I don't believe Pat Boone was in that unless he used a different name or was an extra. Venus as well as all of the inner planets have a rocky surface. Livingstone is mostly correct though and gets credits for knowing that there is something different about Venus' surface as well as the fact that some planets don't have a solid surface. The Venusian atmosphere is very thick with gaseous/liquids similar to the gas giants (no joke intended) Jupiter and Saturn. However, unlike those planets, if you cut through the atmosphere you will come to a rocky surface.
