Same. The stupid thing is I'm an idiot so even though biting hurts only a little, I always flinch so hard I scare Dawn, so she wants to bite more. So basically we're both in training, while Iris the superbudgie is chill no matter what.

@barbarakrall4331Ай бұрын
Thank you for realizing that working long hours away from home is not conducive to having a solo budgie -- it would be condemning the bird to solitary confinement. Maybe having multiple budgies so they can keep each other company? But I think if you are almost never home, best to not have any pets.

How long did it take for your second parakeet to Acclimate to your table? How did you get him to stay on? Mine for sure likes me. She sits comfortably on my finger perch. She also flys to my shirt, climbs up it and sits on my shoulder. Everytime, I bring her to my black table she freaks and flys away. Just like it took time for her to adapt to my hand while she was in her cage, I image it’s going to take a week or 2 before she feels comfortable or motivated

Kiwi and Pixel are so happy on the table, sink, etc. My budgies don't seem to come down from their higher perches and swings unless they're on my hand or flying around. There's nothing to be scared of, no cats, other people or anything. How did you get them so comfortable at all levels in your room?
@KiwiandPixel4 жыл бұрын
They were hand raised by humans, so they’re naturally more tame than standard pet store parakeets.
@relfyem4 жыл бұрын
@@KiwiandPixel Ah yes, mine were store-bought at about 4 months old. They are pretty tame now - They'll fly to sit on my hand and head (if I'm standing, not sitting), and groom my hair and eyebrows, but mainly I think I somehow picked a couple of adrenaline junkies! Their favourite game to play with me, is to be waved around wildly on the end of a willow switch! Now I know for sure that birds sitting in the tops of trees during gales are doing it for the sheer fun of it! I wish they would come down to 'my' level just to hang out sometimes though.

What does the click mean like I know that you reward him after but to him what does the click mean
@KiwiandPixel3 жыл бұрын
"The clicker or marker communicates the exact moment your dog does what you want" Same concept for birds. Read more about clicker training here: www.akc.org/expert-advice/training/clicker-training-your-dog-mark-and-reward/ www.thesprucepets.com/clicker-training-to-teach-bird-tricks-390471
@cd45362 жыл бұрын
The treat doesn't need to be given immediately. He should be taught clicker recognition first. After he knows that the click gets a reward you are supposed to add time between the click and the treat then multiple clicks before a treat so he will do the behaviors without a food reward. Reward new behaviors generously obviously, but you should be able to phase out the treat or you will end up with one fat bird.

I've had my budgie for 3 months now and I STILL can't get him to come out of his cage (any more than a foot). I've tried everything. He freaks out if he doesn't have his cage right there where he can see it. How in the world do I get him out without scaring him half to death and losing any trust we've built? He still won't play with me either but he is finally playing inside of the cage (over the past month), so at least there's been some progress. This has been a LOT harder than I imagined! I had budgies as a kid and it was never this hard. Although, my Mom probably did a lot with them while I was at school. Any tips would be appreciated! He's a really moody little guy.
