Teaching the parakeets to talk

I've had parakeets for 23 years. One day about 10 years ago I walked past my son's bedroom where we had three parakeets. As I was walking by with a load of laundry I heard strange conversation coming from an empty bedroom other than the budgies! As I peeked around I saw our budgies that we've had for 3 years talking to each other in the English language! If you love them enough and pay attention to them enough they will start to speak and it is so amazing! Thank you!

Hi there.. I had a question so recently I bought a parakeet from a PetSmart but I realized I wouldn't be able to care for it properly as I am getting busy with work and would hardly be home. I was wondering if I can surrender it to a Petco that's near by? The PetSmart I bought the bird from is 10 hours away and I don't have the time to make that trip but there is a Petco 2 hours away... Would I be able to surrender it there? I'm hysterical right now and overwhelmed because I feel ashamed I'm giving it back but I do need advice immediately

There are many components to training a parrot. One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Parrot Ploy Plan (check it out on google) it's the most useful blueprint that I have ever heard of.look at all the incredible info .

@@oreocakester4307 A bird with clipped wings can still fly pretty well. Also wing clipping can cause muscle tension which can have long term effects

My birds also used to do that, just leave the cage door open all the time and try to get them out sometimes. If they calm down and get used to their environment they will stop. Also, if they are from a big pet store they were probably two months or so when you got them and might not know how to fly in a bigger space then the cage.

Thank you for taking the time to share your beautiful parakeets with us. I found a composition in my daughters folder and she said that she wished for a parakeet. So we bought her one for her 10th birthday and she named him Chester. Within 2 weeks he ways saying his name and soon after was saying full sentences. That was many years ago. Now that we are retired I wanted a little companion and a few weeks ago we bought Skyler. He isn’t speaking yet but I’m so encouraged to keep trying.

You must spend lots of time with your little birds and it shines through in how bright and happy they are. It's quite an accomplishment how you helped Pixel blend right in and that he is talking so clearly at such s young age. How old is Pixel now and how old are parakeets when they are full grown? oh my goodness, if I was in the market for a mate, I would have to pick some of these wonderfully patient men I have seen carrying on over tiny birds! It i bad enough I am carrying on with med to larger parrots. I recently bought three parakeets long story and am enjoying them as much as my larger birds.
