Targeting Bass at Cefn Sidan (but catching flounder). UK Sea Fishing.

Trying to catch a bass on a South Wales surf beach, Cefn Sidan but couldn’t get through the flounders!

What hight was tide and what part did you fish from bottom or later

It was Thursday 21st March. High tide Swansea was 16.33 and 10.4m. Not sure what it was on Sidan but if you’ve got a Llanelli table you can work back. We fished about 20-30mins of flood and 2 hours (ish) back. Our preferred would have been an hour or so before low and first few hours of the flood but school times dictated the fishing times.

@@worseyfishingadventures Great video . Cefn Sidan has been my local beach since 1985 and I have had some great sessions there in the past. Always fished the flood for 6 hours but as old age and a bad back kicked in I just fish the last couple of hours of the flood now. Sad to say that over the next couple of weeks as the flounder come close to shore to feed up after breeding in deeper water the fish will be taken by netsmen both from the shore and boat to use as pot bait for lobsters & crabs ! Sorry to be negative but I have seen the stocks of flounder decimated over the years .

@@rogerjames5556 such a shame. We don’t fish there very often, probably every few months. It’s an amazing beach. Stocks everywhere are diminishing sadly. We try and do a lot of ray and smooth hound fishing over the next few months, it seems that these are in growth and appear more sustainable. We put 99.9% of all our catches back. The kids love fish so we keep a very odd bass, cod or a few whiting for fish cakes etc.
