Since Trump took office, there seem to have been more unfavorable results in America. These results include effects on the markets, such as price declines and sharp increases in inflation, as well as bank failures. I wonder if the sudden increase in interest rates will help value investors or if it would be wiser to stay away from the stock and financial markets for the time being.

To "buy the dip" It will be profitable in the long run. However, investors should be wary of the bull run. It is advisable to connect with a skilled adviser to fulfill your growth objectives and prevent mistakes. High interest rates typically result in lower stock prices.

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

Tariffs will increase costs of finished goods and components used throughout US manufacturing. This will be an immediate and huge hike in inflation. To fight inflation the Fed will have to hike interest rates which will be wonderful for the billionaires but possibly take away the middle class. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

The U.S. economy relies on ongoing credit and debt generation for sustenance. The Federal Reserve is expected to increase the money supply, leading to further debt accumulation for the average American. So how exactly can we guard against the coming financial reset Like what are really the best strategies to make our portfolio recession proof against the incoming financial reset? I'm very worried about my $310k stock portfolio.

The U.S. economy relies on ongoing credit and debt generation for sustenance. The Federal Reserve is expected to increase the money supply, leading to further debt accumulation for the average American. Meanwhile, foreign nations continue to desire the U.S. dollar, despite their own economies facing significant challenges, some even worse than that of the U.S. This situation raises concerns about who will ultimately bear the consequences of these economic dynamics.

I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. China, Mexico, and Canada isn't the problem. It's the divestment of American companies in manufacturing in the US. A good deal of that divestment was driven by PE LBOs looking for cheap labor to pay for leverage on acquired companies. Bain Capital and Sensata is a good example.

You point out "An Incovenient Truth". The US Government spends $7 trillion each year and finances it with $5 trillion of taxes and duties and $2 trillion of borrowing, accumulating a $36 trillion national debt with a debt service cost of $1 trillion each year. This annual debt service cost represents some 20% of total US Government revenues. This debt service cost is large even for a wealthy country that only has a GDP growth of 2.5% and is already at full employment. The US government must increase revenues to finance growing debt service cost which constrain its ability to implement new policies and programs that have been promised by the new government to the voters. With the national debt growing by $2 trillion in 2025 and beyond, the government has few choices to raise revenue and cut debt service costs: • Cut interest rates to reduce debt servicing costs; • Cut government expenditures (USAID, Department of Education, Entitlements, etc.); • Increase income and corporate taxes; • Raise tariffs significantly on imports from all countries; or • A combination of all of the above. First, a rapid decrease in interest rates could reduce the debt services cost. However, action on this front by the Federal Reserve is constrained by an economy running at full employment as lower interest rates will likely cause increased inflation and a return to higher interest rates. Second, cutting government expenditures significantly is difficult when mandatory programs (Social Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and other entitlements) represent 59% of government spending and are growing with an aging population. An additional 29% of expenditures is composed of Debt Service Cost (15%), Defence (14%), both of which are all but mandatory, especially for the current administration. Non-Defence Discretionary Spending of $900 billion or 12% of government expenditures can be reduced at significant political, cost but cannot be entirely eliminated. Third, increasing Income, Corporate and Payroll taxes will be difficult as it would have negative impact on the MAGA base, corporate donors who have been promised tax cuts, and on overall economic growth; thereby reducing government tax revenues. The fourth source of revenue, Tariffs on the approximately $4 trillion of imports would seem like the easiest source; however, significantly increased tariffs (like taxes), such as a 25% on all imports would likely cause rapid inflation and disrupt essential supply chains leading to shortages, not only of imported consumer goods but also of US manufactured goods, for some time. This would force the Federal Reserve to increase the interest rate resulting in higher debt servicing costs while reducing growth in the economy. Something has to be done, but there are no solutions that do not come with political and economic costs. Pick your poison.

Not sure about the tariffs on Mexico and Canada, which seem to be more about political differences abput how to handle crime and immigration problems, but the tariffs on China are an inevitable consequence of Chinese manufacturing subsidies. It was bound to happen sooner or later. My take: tariffs are there to slow down the economy so that rates can be lowered, solving the debt crisis by kicking the can further down the road, again. Rates will be zero before you can say "recession" 10 times in row.

This is nonsense. Debt is measured against GDP (Debt to GDP ratio). If economic growth is slower, GDP growth is slower, and there is less revenue from taxes (higher debt).

@@GabrielCazorlaPersson1 But debt service is free when rates are zero. Hence, kicking the can down the road.

No, tariffs are taxes, so more akin to theft than war. In any case, taxes are a necessary evil, and a political choice within each country. Tariffs are particularly dumb taxes, to be sure, but legitimate nonetheless.
