I am not fully versed in all of Nightwish's songs, but this song, Sleeping Sun and Phantom belong to Tarja. I love Floor and might even give her a slight edge on her version of Ghost Love Score and some other songs, but the truly operatic, passionate songs are Tarja's alone IMHO. Both Tarja and Floor are wonderful, and we should all agree to enjoy both artist's performances. I think it really depends on the song as to which singer does a better job. I used to be much more in the Tarja camp, but the more that I listen to Floor, the more that I appreciate the beauty and power of her voice. It really depends on what you're in the mood for, similar to intimacy. If you want a night of passionate, romantic love making, you would choose Tarja. If you want passion, but want to go a bit wild too, then go with Floor.

@Big Bill O'Reilly yah, she always had this aura about her... initially, i attributed it to stage lighting but then i came to see, it was her own projection causing it, even in this simple setting and that coupled with her self-deprecating and earthy nature and the patented explosive laugh is so engaging...i recall, in her era with NW, i was somewhat obsessed with her and my girlfriend, at the time, was not too happy with the notion, and despite my assurances that it was purely artistic/musical/vocal, in nature, she thought i was double-dipping...(and, of course, i took every opportunity to show her how addicted to Tarja, i was)....man, those days were stellar...

I saw this in Ruisrock in Turku in the early 2000s in one of the very few festivals I've ever attended. The atmosphere was surreal. I was crying in the audience. My mom had passed away only couple years prior. Finally this year I was able to sing this as well on my channel (wasn't easy). Death literally made me an artist.

THREE KEY FACTORS THAT I AM 100% SURE THAT TARJA IS THE SOUL OF NIGHTWISH AND WILL ALWAYS BE FOREVER IS THAT EVEN MANY REPLACEMENT GOOD SINGERS STEP IN NIGHTWISH : 1. She formed and sang Nightwish in her motherland and she knew it as the mother knew her child. 2. The way she handled songs, the way she delivered all albums. All is her and come directly from her, not borrowing anything. The way she sang in Finlish (Finnish + English), the pronounciation is only her, only her who can do that, no one can replicate. She can sing Koulema and can make other non Finnish speaking audience can cry even they cant understand a word. That is the magic. She knows it from deep down inside. 3. She maybe not the good singer in all styles (like some NW fans say she cant be versatile in operatic and lyrical style). But the key thing is she knows really well what Nightwish is. Even she cant sing well and so bad in performance sometimes but her feeling, her presence is unique and it is making people feel that is nightwish. Or the solo albums, when she sang, we all feel that is nightwish. That is not really about how good singer she is. That is magical. Do you agree with me ?

is just because they are feeling the music so much.. finnish people happen to know about real music... you can see those things in classical musicians too.. such as closing their eyes or put their faces down.. If you watch a video here on youtube of Annete singing The Poet and the Pendulum, you will see her, doing things like that, she sat on the floor and cover her face too... is just for concentrating completely in the song... they just like music with their hearts :)
