With the helmet testing, I think it’s important to mention that depending on the distance and angle you hit the helmet, and the helmets material, it could ricochet and do very little damage to the helmet and the player. Some good information that some players might not know, or maybe have even forgotten.

We do these tests a few times and I usually watch for ricochet. Originally I never tested Helmets is because of how random they can be.

I don't think angles matter in Tarkov. It is just a % chance.

@@TimmyInTarky The angle does very much matter(im almost positive of it). I cant really provide any source to these claims, but I swear I have heard Nikitia say it before. But also I’ve tested it on steel helmets and then on the kiver (soft helmet). hits on angles or angled shots seem to have a much higher ricochet chance than direct hits.... on metal helmets. I really hope it’s not a placebo effect because I too am a bit skeptical still on whether or not angles matter, but im also pretty certain they do.

remember to consider these values in a head-on combat situation. In a live raid, enemy pmc's wont lift their arms for free chest shots. Often times you'll find yourself magdumping players with class 5 and 6 armor for the kill even when using high tier ammo. This is for many reasons: The other player is obviously shooting back causing mental stress and aimpunch if hit. The inevitable misfires when shooting enemies. Arms tanking shots (currently arms tank more shots than they should and will be fixed in the upcoming patch). These are just a few things to keep in mind when deciding your engagements. High tier ammo usually feels extremely powerful when ambushing geared pmc's. But in a head-on fight you may go through a whole mag or two just to down one geared pmc. Vox one thing worth considering about HP ammo is that it is one of few rounds left that can one tap an unarmored thorax with 87 damage, and actually flies faster than BS/BP at 754m/s Not saying it's good, just that it does that.

One thing I noticed is the 60 flesh damage so you can limb someone with 1 shot, I had so many occasions where I get shot 1 by a ps and when I check to heal there like 5 hp remaining, I guess the reason why boss guards carry t45 is the same reason they carry warmage 556, to kill unprepared players who didnt invest in gear, I noticed this at the start of this wipe I found reshala and got 1 tapped by a guard with warmage since I didn't have armor

Actually, subsonic ammo has another con apart from the bullet drop. You may consider using it for a bottom budget/4fun/scav-hunting raid because of the amazing damage and the recoil decrease (I did, but luckily, I tried it before), but there is a bug that causes it to have even more recoil than normal ammo, at least for 5.45 and 7.62, and from what I see (I tracked an eft forum thread back to a year ago), fixing this is not a BSG priority. I recorded a test and uploaded it to YT, in case you want to see this.

@@pyeitme508 PKM /PKP is planned, it's already been modeled. I guess the FN MAG / M240 will eventually come too, as it's used by a majority of EU countries, which supposedly make up the majority of the UN security forces in Tarkov. Imo for the moment, MMG and HMGs aren't really worth or useful to put in-game yet. There's literally no opportunities to use them with current maps; even when running in squads. LMGs are overall more useful. Also just imagine the mobility penalty on MMG/HMGs yikes... I own a PKM and it's not as bad as when I had to drag an FN MAG when serving

When you reload your gun you need to empty 1 round out of the chamber ither by Shift T removeing or shooting your gun because it keeps 1 round from the last mag in the chamber

Was messing around offline with an ak loaded with 1 tracer every 3 rounds of US ammo (army style) and noticed 7.62x39 US has dramatic bullet drop at 100 meters (like aiming with the bottom bar of my scope) while the least drop was with BP or ignolik. Which ammo is best at long range/cheapest? I want to snipe with my akm.

BP ammo is the best budget round because you can make a green gunpowder with 20k’s worth of nades and turn that GP into 120 rounds. I have 720 rounds saved up in going to sell on the market for hella profit

I was doing this, it has a solid profit margin once you can buy the M67 from Peacekeeper. On the weekends I have been able to sell them for pretty crazy prices(I guess since so many more people are playing at that time compared to the weekdays), I think my highest was ~935 roubles per round and I sold x1080. However, I recently found out that you can make even more money by crafting Green gunpowder and using gunpowder + 1x Xenomorph + 60x HP 7.62x39 to make 200x Sp6 9x39mm ammo, and then for 50x Sp6 + 100 7.62 PS ammo you can make x100 .366 AP which regularly sell for 700-800 roubles/round on the Flea. This takes longer, so you may be better off selling the 7.62 BP on days where you aren't able to be on your PC once an hour or so, but when you have the time, this really ends up being a huge profit margin. So you are essentially using 1x green gunpowder(~25k if you craft it), 1x Xenomorph (~20k on the Flea), 65x HP 7.62(~3,600 roubles total from Jaegar), and 100x PS 7.62 (~8,800 from Prapor) to make 400 .366 AP. If you sell those for 700 roubles each(you can easily go higher most of the time) you'll end up with 280k roubles, the materials are about 58k total, that means 222,000 roubles profit. The only downside is the time, but once you craft the Sp6 you can craft the .366 AP recipe 4 times before you have to make your gunpowder again.

So funny story. I really wanted to see if 7.62x39 US could be viable so i took a bit of a closer look at it and did some tests. Turns out it has a -30% recoil reduction along with being subsonic, both are bugged and dont work. I passed it along to the mods but it has yet to be fixed. If it actually did give that recoil reduction and was subsonic that would have huge changing implications early wipe. Throw a suppressor and some light mods on an akm and load it with US ammo and it would be a really great early wipe setup for CQC to close-mid range fighting. But i doubt the mod even passed along about it being broken to the devs because i reported it like mid last wipe and its still broken.

Good test. Personally I think helmets should have far less durability. 7.62x39 PS is still a 7.62 rifle round! Getting shot 14 times in the head shouldn't be necessary to kill someone who is essentially wearing a 1 inch piece of metal around their brain.

I think the 7.62x39 rounds could use a buff/more options. Realistically the only options are T-45, PS and BP, with everyone only running PS and BP. I wish PS costed more/performed a bit better to make the inferior US round actually have some form of meaning as the "budget round". As it stands it's flat-out shittier on top of being more expensive for some reason? Makes no sense to me.

tarkov is a game about positioning and setting up good engagements, not really winning 1v1s. PS literally is 10 times cheaper than BP, and if you are playing Tarkov properly you should be able to put a solid spray into someone's upper body before they can shoot back. It's not godlike but you can frequently kill all but the most geared players for nearly zero investment to be clear I'm not saying take PS to labs, but, provided a) you can aim and b) you position yourself decently, a lightly modded AKM series filled with PS will shred 90% of the enemies you come across on Customs/Reserve, without ever having to worry about running out of ammo
