Stone from swarnamukhi river of srikalahasti is considered the shaligram of goddess shakti as "shakti sheela" in bengali shakta society. the story of that meat offering devotee is also mentioned in bengali puja padhati books. People from here used to visit this shrine earlier to worship lord shiva and then collect shakti sheela, from the river to worship devi at their homes. Just to add, The lingam in the sanctum sanctorum (Srikalahasteeswara (vayu) linga) is not touched by anyone even by the Archakas (Pujari’s) till day, This is why the navagraha kavacha which represents nine planets is placed in front of linga and not attached to linga so it doesn’t contact and also even abhishekam is performed just to the yoni peetham of linga but out of all, 3 Abhisekam namely rose water, Shanka Abhisek and then paccha karpuram abhisekams is done from top of linga by carefully not touching the linga, Har Har Mahadev Please visit Abhisek next time you are in srikalahasti, it’s wonderful experience 🙏
