The K1 Gixxer changed the game & the whole range from 2001-2005 were amazing road bikes and still are. On weight they are very close to today's tackle, just 5-10kg in it, depending on who you believe. The 750's standing quarter mile improved just 0.2s in 2 decades, max power up just 8bhp & torque only 2Nm. The steering geometry is also basically unchanged, fractions of a degree rake and 0.5mm trail. Not slow by today's standards, a professional suspension rebuild/setup and some fettering on the dyno is all they need to hold their head up on the road. You can buy 3 of them for the price of a new bike, it's no wonder sales are down and the used market is bouyant - the engine is bomb proof too if it's serviced.

Great bike! I have white and blue k1. It is raw bike and it has already power from 4000rpm in comparison to new super bikes which are usually dead I in low rpms.

Just loved this video. About to get one. Had a 600 K3 and the steering, reliability and power was superb. Best bike I had. All the 2000s superbikes we’re perfect. Golden era would say. Had afterwards a zx12r and it was just heavy compared to this. The patience these bikes have just because the engine is so forgiving and a good teacher makes the biker-ride connection a pure haiku.

Top video. I pick my 2003 registered K2 up on the 26th. It’s only got 7500 miles on the clock. I to will treat it with respect. I only went in to pick my bike up after it’s service saw the Gixer in its majestic colours which floor me whenever I see one be it a 600 or 750. I sat on it with it running. Checked it’s full history, it’s clearly been a loved summer bike only. Done the deal there & then. Can’t wait.

In the video at 3:06 you say its a k2. This is not right. You have a chocke and the color on your fairing is from a k1. K2 have other colors and decals on fairing and not a chocke. I know i have a gsx-r1000 k2 and know the difference between them.

@@bikehubjapan k1/k2 came in red black but the choke is only on the k1 model. it was removed on the 02. the r11 yoshi plate on the other hand was just riveted on there but it's only a tri-oval , r11 yoshi's didnt exist back in the day for these bikes, and last but not least the mirrors are from a k2 model.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a 53 plate K2 in September 2022. It's in the red and black scheme and has the Yoshimura trioval system fitted only in stainless rather than titanium.it's currently sitting on 12,202 miles and is immaculate. So far,I have fitted a Brembo front brake master cylinder and disc rotors, all round Venhill braided brake lines, lightweight alloy rearsets,it came fitted with a piper cross filter which was replaced with the equivalent K&N filter and a Harris carbon fibre hugger,oh and a Shido Lithium ion battery,it has new Michelin pilot tyres which I find to be fantastic with confidence building levels of grip.I did intend to fit the Brembo calipers front and rear but the Tociko calipers are excellent so will leave well alone for now, overall,I have not yet found a bike which delivers it's power with such measured ease and it does not feel like a litre bike whilst throwing it round the twisties it feels just so light and makes you feel as if you are in control,I couldn't even contemplate selling it to buy another bike.

Wow, great reply. I traded my bike yesterday for & 2003 registered K2 in white & blue in top drawer condition with only 7500 miles on the clock. Full history & has clearly been a summer bike only. I’m feeling reassured with regards to the way it delivers its power & the nimble handling etc. I pick it up on the 26th July after it’s full service etc.

Yes thats it ! The GSX-R K1-K3 give you so much confidence, because the Engine is very smooth and controllabile. But the Power is still there if you want. I own a 750 K2 and had no problems to follow very Fast Riers on 1000cc Bikes, you have to use the first 3 Gears for Shure on Full Throttle but it works. Mostly the Limit is the Street and the Rider not the Bike. I don't know many people who own the balls and skills to use the full capacity of this kind of Bikes.

@@bikehubjapan I don't know. I think the U.S. market had the '02 (K2) as first fuel injected GSX-R model. And titanium exhaust pipe from the headers, the '01 (K1) had a black pipe. Other than that, it seems to me that finding information on the '01-'02 GSX-R models is not very easy.
