You got me more confident to troll for pike when I watched this video. Got on the water today and got a last minute pike after casting for 4 hours w/o a bite. Using a big Supershad in natural color, not too far from the boat in a weedy bay. Almost got my thumb, being too excited I inadvertently put my hands where they shouldn't be and bam right next to my knuckle past the barb. Luckily I'm quite hardy and got it out by force, I'll save you from the details by saying my friend passed out on the bottom of the boat... So glad it didn't wiggle anymore. Anyhow all is fine simply got a fair bruise and a small puncture, I'm so happy trolling worked after neglecting or not doing it properly for pike!!! 😆

I can most definitely relate to the Winter blues, Taro. Living in Minnesota is cool until about mid December then it gets depressing. Early ice is about the only ice fishing I genuinely enjoy. The wheelhouse just gets claustrophobic and lonely after a while. Looking forward to the spring walleye run on the Mississippi River, than St. Croix river during the summer and fall. Better days ahead!!

I fish out of Port Credit so recognized a lot of those spots you guys hit. Do you find that Pike are more active there in fall or spring? I ask because in Colorado I tend to catch some massive pike in end of October early nov.

When you get the right conditions in fall.. it can be unreal. Especially those warm spells or big wind dark/warmer days. But pre spawn (late winter) can be insane too and just as fat. Spring the fish are generally skinnier and fish can weird some days. But timing is key. Some stable warm weather can be magical in spring too. But for heaviest fish late fall, winter and late winter is better in my opinion.
