Cwtch is so much more than a hug or a cuddle! It's a safe place or safe feeling. I tell my dog "go on to your cwtch" to go to his bed in the corner, my niece's security blanket is her cwtch "go get your cwtch love" when she's upset. It's not as easy to translate as that. There is no English equivalent.

The funny thing about the welsh slang phrases is that I'm mexican and I lived all my life in Mexico and I still can understand those phrases like "so we're gonna go for a walk, is it?; I'll do it now in a minute" because the last one is like the equivalent of "si ahorita" but like in a way that you just know that that 'yes now' is in like 3-4 hours. It's quite funny because I can actually understand what are they trying to say 😂 and I've never been there and I know nothing of welsh.

Still slang, bc we use it in English sentences, although shwmae is just hello so I don’t agree with that, but cwtch and Ych a fi are ones I personally use as a slang, like I usually use cwtch more than the word hug, and anything disgusting is automatically ych a fi
