Question- Sun, moon and rising. What are the different effects? Am I asking that right? Does each one represent something particular?

Hi Raymond! Yes; in astrological thought, they all represent different things. Just as the Sun is the centre of our solar system, our Sun sign is the centre of our internal solar system - sort of like the main driver of who we are. We might think of it as symbolising our vital life force, our spirit, the quality of our intellect, and our overall identity. Just as the Moon reflects the Sun's light but is associated with night and darkness, our Moon sign is rather like our Sun sign's yin/receptive counterpart. It symbolises those things that are at least partly beyond our conscious control, like our physical bodily processes, our transcendent soul (the part of us that connects to all-that-is), our emotional reflexes, and our deepest sense of belonging within humanity. Because the Moon cycles rapidly through many phases, it also corresponds with the many stages of our life, particularly our early life - so it's also about our past, our home, and the sense of comfort needed by our inner self. The Rising sign is the sign that's rising above the horizon at the time of our birth. It's what's being presented to the world; so we can think of it as the mask or persona that we present to other people. The Rising sign (also called the Ascendant) is the parts of ourselves that the world sees first. That's why it's different to the Sun sign, which is more about our core ego structure. In summary: We present our Sun sign to the world draped in our Rising sign. And hidden deep behind both of those, known only to ourselves, is our Moon sign. I hope that helps!

I knoowwwww! I sort of spotted that when I got to Jupiter/Pisces. So... Sagittarius speaks to of us of the pioneering, adventurous, exploratory aspect of Jupiter (whereas Pisces speaks to its ability to expand and to go deep... sometimes too deep for comfort!)
