A lot of people associate Ricci's films as "spooky" or "horror" for obvious reasons, but I've always considered her a "dramatic actor", some of her best performances get zero love from the mainstream.. she'd already have a few Oscar nominations under her belt in a perfect world..
@johnnymars6773Ай бұрын
She should’ve gotten nominations for The Opposite of Sex, Prozac Nation, Monster and Black Snake Moan….yes, Black Snake Moan (a misunderstood and underrated gem of a film).

Chelsea! YT's algorithm suggested your pod to me for the 1st time today! I'm so happy you've started a channel because having been diehard fan of "Chelsea Lately," a regularly scheduled dose of your humor is a very good thing for me! And Christina Ricci, what a great time you were on here! Certainly aware of your career but didn't know much of you personally at all. So this pod just enhanced my already positive opinion - a very funny, cool, candid lady!

These are really important conversations! I am a domestic violence/abuse survivor myself. I was married for 14 yrs and am now 5 yrs out, I pursued correct trauma informed therapy and will continue probably forever bc it's just helpful. I was able to get out, teach my daughters how that was not safety, not love and not something people should just put up with. Boundaries and healthy communication have been made a staple in educating my girls about. We thoroughly understand the power and control wheel and how it was/is used and the tools to combat those situations after trauma. Part of the problem is the support systems available for regular people and specifically marginalized groups just doesn't hardly exist. The ones out there doing the work don't have the funding to help all that need it in the correct ways but do their best and I'm grateful for them but we need to better educate the public about these things to be proactive instead of reactive and also PROVIDE THE RESOURCES/SUPPORT. I live in a rural WI city and people just have no idea and law enforcement/justice system doesn't enforce the safety measures of the VAWA act even though it's thr law they don't care just like when disabled people speak up for their rights there's no mechanism for support or justice so expecting ppl to break these cycles is just impossible for most. I was raised by my late parents who were teachers/UU religious education director (my mother) so I'm pretty mentally grounded and I still entered into the bs but I was able to better educate myself out of it bc of that base of understanding critical thinking and understanding people and behavior. I also worked hospice healthcare for over a decade long and can navigate systems better(not great bc these systems are so discriminatory), if it was this hard for me it's completely out of reach for others. We must do better. This helped me understand why/actions needed. ⬇️ theabilitytoolbox.com/systemic-ableism/
