This TAROT IN PRACTICE was a little... trickier than our last one, but I hope you still enjoy seeing the beautiful Gentle Tarot in action and hearing my thoughts on it. 💙

This deck speaks to me. I'm not someone who has all the traditional card meanings memorized so the deviation from RWS doesn't bother me, I tend to read with this by leaning heavily on the guidebook or the art anyway. There's just something so incredibly *kind* about the readings I get. Often straight to the heart of the matter but in a way that lets me be, indeed, gentle with myself. I think if I had to keep just one deck it would be Gentle Tarot.

The Seed of Thunder in this picture is a fox hunting in winter for prey living beneath the snow. This is your diving beneath the surface for what you need to feed yourself moving forward. I love this deck and the way it speaks to me. I can't say that about many other decks

Hah, Katey, I see you putting all the animal cards in the “don’t like / don’t get pile” 😉😊 Mostly because I did the same thing! I love this deck’s art, and the guidebook is amazing. And I don’t have a problem using a deck always with the guidebook. But I still have trouble reading decks that are part animal figures part human figures. And because this deck’s art goes so much it’s own way in many cards, I pretty much use it as an oracle deck at this point, or as beautiful bibliomancy.

This series is always so insightful and thoughtful, thank you for sharing it. It always brings up interesting questions for me to pounder about my own decks/tarot journey. As for the struggle with the deck I think sometimes decks are like people sometimes we just click with someone and conversation is easy, other time we really like someone but feel challenged or like we stumble when we interact with them. I think your conclusion said so much " no need to put pressure, have fun". I just love getting to see your though process and journey thank you so much for sharing as always.

I can relate to not really feeling connected to animal decks. For me I think it is because I love animals so much it is hard for me to see them in regular emotional and intellectual everyday situations. I feel like animals are above that almost. I'm not exactly sure. I can really appreciate your journey thus far with this deck. It is so lovely and I loved that message at the end. I would definitely feel like that was a message to keep trying with it also. Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. I am loving your beautiful eyeshadows btw. 💖💖💖

Yes! I spoke about that a bit in my video about why I don’t like animal decks. I feel often the associations or meanings are human constructs and projections imposed upon the animal, but often without an awareness that that is what is happening. I’m very happy to hear you enjoyed the video. And yes, I had some fun with colourful eyeshadow this month! 😍

Awwwwww, I’m so glad you’re going to keep going with this deck! It’s such a beautiful and healing deck (at least for me). Thank you for sharing your moment with Temperance…. I felt so moved seeing you being moved! It’s so funny when you said you couldn’t relate to or get the meaning of the Strength card in this deck….. and I guess maybe it’s because I’ve seen a whale breech and seemingly fly up out of the water, this huge creature just soaring up and out of the water and the strength that must take I just feel like I totally get that card!!!! But I guess that speaks to your thoughts about not understanding the cards with animals on them you’re not familiar with!!! But oh the guidebook!!! Mari just delivered such a gem! I do love the artwork so much, but I love the guidebook as well! I hope you enjoy working with this deck and that it brings you joy!

I love this deck and how it makes me feel when I draw cards! But I have accepted that at least for now it is one I will use with the little guidebook. They seem to be part of the whole experience, rather than trying to force the associations which for the animals aren't always there either.

The guidebook is worded beautifully, too! It’s a great companion to the deck, for sure 😊

I can see how images of animals like salmon, that are unfamiliar to you, would be challenging. I would be stumped to see a wombat on a card, myself, other than I think they are cute. This really opens my eyes that "universal" is very specific sometimes. Thank you for pointing that out.

Wow! I just tried your deck interview and WOAH! I was doing the Spirit Within Deck. It was as if I was having a direct conversation with the cards and I was moved in so many ways. It certainly was spot on. Next, I tried the what am I doing well/What can I do better? and those were much more clear for me. It really did make a huge difference to know exactly what I was asking and which positions. Also, I noted when I did the interview cards I didn't "like" turned up as well. Thank you for sharing these spreads! I am so excited!!! I have like 30 decks to do it with now ha!

I'm glad you're keeping the deck for now. I do love this one. ❤😊 I get it on the animal deck struggles though. For decks full of animals that I have no real association with -- like, until I got Laura Bowen's deck I did not even know what a goanna was! -- I work with them in a very guidebook-linked way. I find animal tarots harder in some ways than animal oracles since the oracle it's just animal meanings; tarot has those added associations of the system which I experience as getting in my way if the animal/card pairings don't make sense to me.
@KateyFlowers3 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Even though I still don’t have a lot of animal oracles, i think I can get my head around them a little easier than animal tarot decks!

I had similar mixed feelings about this deck. Many cards that I loved and all of the art is just beautiful. But for me there were just too many cards that I didn't connect with and the readings didn't flow. I actually use your deck interview questions with decks. The card I got for the outcome of our time together was the 3 of cups, and I ultimately gifted the deck to a friend.💙

Seeing you work with these decks teaches and emboldens me so much in my own emerging practice. One thing that specifically touched me this time was your reading and discussion of the five of thunder. I use to be heavily involved in a group in which I was driven and strongly encouraged to be driven but over time the involvement was resulting in increasing personal disharmony rather than enjoyment and fulfillment. I could no longer tell if it was still my passion or merely someone else’s keeping me there. There was a shame attached to quitting and I struggled to own what was right for *me* when leaving looked like “giving up”. I pulled the 5 of swords regularly during this time and I didn’t get it then but now I do. Thankfully other messages came through for me at that time and it’s in the past now but finally feeling clarity on this particular one brought tears to my eyes.

I live in America but I love learning about animals in other parts of the world. Once you learn more about the animals you may understand the cards better.

@@KateyFlowers Hi. Perhaps I did not see it well.. I am now realising I really do need my glasses all the time. I mean one of the cards which belonged in the pile you did not like in the beginning and you commented on it having a white figure and a black one. Perhaps I am mistaken, but my impression was that it represented one hand controlling the white hamster from above and the other hand controlling the black hamster from above.. And both animals seemed tied by their neck with a rope. I found it very disturbing.. Enough for me not to buy the deck... Did I misunderstood the represebtatiin/drawing?. I found it weird that you dud not say anything about it, becayse after watching many of your videis, I have the feeling if more or less getting to know a bit about your values. So it got me thinking that perhaps the card represents something totally different to that which I have seen on camera. I am in Germany.. which means I will probably respond with delay.. But I will get back to this.. I am curious about what your interpretation of that card is. By the way I just finished preparing candles and spells for the eclipse which I believe you will see in just a few hours from your place. Here we will barely notice it at 8 in the morning. Best regards, Lior

@@hermit.masteroflight5970 hi there, the only card I can think of that matches your description is the Justice card? In that card, two hands are holding on to two pouches that are tied by a string. I honestly don’t know what they are, but they definitely aren’t animals! They look like teabags or pouches or something, but I don’t really understand what they are or what they mean, which is why it was in my ‘don’t like/don’t get’ pile (at 2:07 ) It’s the same card I drew in the Deck Interview Spread and you can see a close up of at 13:28 . Hopefully that clear that up for you - definitely no animals or hamsters in that card!

@@KateyFlowers Hi Katey.. Yes 😊. I should not watch videos on my mobile phone.. Or I need thicker glasses 😎.. You are absolutly right.. That what looked like hamsters to me are actually two little bags.. Perhaps a reference to the kind of bag which the fool usually carries in the RWS.. I don't know. It makes me feel better, knowing that "no animals have been harmed".. But I also agree that I do not get the meaning... 🤔.. Perhaps.. Finding the strength to "carry" our burdens with a "lighter hand" /with less effort. 🤔. Anyway I am glad that the non-existent two hamsters have brought us to talk to each other. It is a pleasure. I relatively recently found your channel and became a big fan of yours. I specially appreciate your honest and sincere way of speaking about things. Best regards, Lior

I haven't finished the video yet but I had to pause to comment on the Salmon card in position 5) what the deck sees as its own strengths. I am a Pacific Northwest native and I see Salmon as the very sustainer of life. Salmon alone is the nourisher of life and culture to first human life here in this area. I see this as the highest strength there is .
@KateyFlowers3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that insight! ❤️
@StaceyHH3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I wish there was more in the LWB about the Salmon. I'm also a PNW'er and it's like... salmon is kind of in our blood. It's a pillar of indigenous culture, and as you say a nourished of life. It's determination, it's adaptation -- starting life in freshwater, spending it's life in saltwater, then returning to freshwater as the completion of a cycle. It connects our world, land as it battles it way back up rivers and even waterfalls, the rivers themselves, the ocean... It's a primary food source for so many from microorganisms as the bodies feed the river after spawning, all the way to apex predators such as humans, bears, wolves. They are DELICIOUS, but dams, commercial fishing, hatcheries, climate change, etc are endangering the future of the species. So much more to say about them.

About the salmon, I would add that they swin against the stream of water. They are courageous, go their own way and follow their gut feeling to assure a greater good.

I never sort new cards in "like, ok, don't like "piles, as nowadays I watch flipthroughs with sound muted (to not be influenced by voice or music), and stop the video at each card as long as I need, to "study" it : is it readable for me? Do I like it (scale 0-5)? Is it a no-go card for me? Is the deck as a whole just redundant to something else in my collection or does it give me new points of view? Sometimes I need to do that 2 or 3 times for a deck, but if in the end there are too many 0-2 cards, or not enough 4-5 cards, any no-go cards, the deck is redundant or I cannot really find "my meanings"in the card, then I don't buy it.

Also... the animals are exactly why I havent bought the deck. Otherwise... it seems like almost THE PERFECT deck for me. I'm heartbroken 💔
