Hi, Jeanne! So many new insights into the III Swords! When you said, "This is a Swords card," it was a lightbulb moment. I mean, I KNOW it's a swords card, but, because of the heart, it has always had a strong cups energy for me. The reminder that this is a swords card allows me to see the impersonal nature of it, the 'big, fat, stop sign' aspect, rather than relationship-based heartbreak. "This card is stuck." Haha. Stuck with swords. I have also been overlooking the significance of this being a three, and indicating, as you said, that it is early in a process. I was too focused on the drama of the image, with the three swords (not one! not two!) representing the depth or seriousness of pain/sorrow. Looking at the card now I am reminded of how you said in one of your classes that red represents will. The red heart pierced by three swords makes me think that the will - the desire and effort towards a particular outcome - has been unequivocably deflated. The imagery of this card evokes such a visceral esponse that I never dissected it into its parts of suits and numbers. Thank you, once again, for helping me to see beyond my own limitations. And your characterization of the heart as a 'big, fat, stop sign' is a great mnemoic device for understanding the card. I also enjoyed your comments on the VIII Wands. I have always seen the card as representing a lot of activity, things happening quickly, but I hadn't considered it indicating, "follow the path of least resistance." I like that, it supports forward momentum. Your pairing of the two cards amplifies my understanding of them. The framework of "blockage vs. alignment" helps me to remember them both. Much obliged!!

Such an unique perspective, I never thought of the 3sw like that, nor about the fact that either has persons in them. To me 3sw means integration of the knowledge in the body. I certainly will consider your pov from now on. Thank you!
